.bk A14 .fl O723jw3.j .fd daily journal for O721, feature descriptions f280, 281, 283 .ei jw .ed O723 .rd O721 .ri jw -wk 29 reported for work -sf gm worked at home all day processing items, entering data, and preparing templates. -sy bp installed markers in preparation for excavating k12. k 14 dy Removed the remaining red accumulation, f245, and the brown accumulation, f244 underneath, exposing portions of the pebble and sherd floor, f253. k 4 dy Continued to remove living accumulation, f278, from the entire locus. At the end of the day it became clear that there are a large number of whole and restorable jars resting on floor, f213, immediately below. A guard was posted overnight and we will photograph and remove them tomorrow. k 13 dy Continued to remove brown accumulation, f274, from the locus. Inspection of the section in the SW corner reveals that what we first believed to be a pit may well be an ashy layer. Inspection of the section in the NW corner reveals that we probably excavated through a thinly layered pise floor, f283, which is at virtually the same elevation as a similar floor, f213, in k4, diagonally to the NW. At the end of the day, we found a poorly made pebble and sherd floor along the eastern edge of the locus (it had been partially dug through in the NE corner). We will consider stopping here for the season. k 3 dy Daily journal for this locus being prepared by dc. k 22 dy continued to excavate accumulation, f277, (probably ancient gullywash) beneath the topsoil. f 280 df aa ds living accumulation above a crude stone and pebble floor, f281, in k13. ns pottery from this feature will be presented to mkb for analysis to determine the functions carried out upon it. f 281 df fb ds crude stone and pebble floor along the eastern quarter of k13. f 283 df fb ds pise floor seen in secton of the north baulk of k13, in the western half. It was not noticed at the time of excavation, and it seems to be linked to the pise floor, f213, in k4, adjacent in the NW. -sg At the end of the day, jo, dc, gm, and jw met with gb to review the priorities for the final few days of excavation. We decided that the highest priority will be to continue to work in k22, k4, and k3. As soon as possible we should also re-open k12 from last season and to excvate k21, a partial square directly in front of the abi. Due to the unexpected complexity of working surfaces found in the excavation so far, we cannot hope to explore the direct links, if any, between the ceremonial platforms and the abi in k1, k2, k11 and k89.
