Description/Count
description (summary) 2006-8-19 vVE f557 is a natural accumulation that accumulated on top of the top of the second apron f532 and on top of the natural compacted surface f566. (During excavation of feature f566 it was noted that the deposit was much softer in the Southeastern corner of k2 than elsewhere.) Colour and texture were the same everywhere in f557. No outline of a pit was found in neither the surface nor the sections. I suspect that the soil was looser here because of the presence of roots. By accident q-lots q530 and q531 that belong to f557 were assigned to f535. [Input File: Q819vE1.j]
2006-8-17 vVE Feature f557 is the natural deposit that lies to the south of and covers f532. The q-lot q526 that belonged to f557 had by accident been assigned to f535. [Input File: Q817vE.j]

Recovery/Assignment
daily notes 2006-8-19 vVE We continued to excavate f557 to further expose the stones of f532 and closed this feature when we reached the natural compacted surface f566. [Input File: Q819vE1.j]
harmonization 2012-8-08 jW In a study season (2007-R) the year after f533 was excavated (2006-Q), mO entered the contact association, f533 covers f557. The excavation notes for one (prepared by the supervisor vVE) do not mention the other. In fact vVE noted that both f533 and f557 were the earliest deposits that covered the second apron. The logical conclusion is that f533 and f557 were the same deposit, excavated and recorded at separate locations at separate times. In fact, f557 was assigned to the bottom deposit in the excavated north baulk atop f532. Although the elevation was not recorded, v526 shows that f557 was the southern extension of f533.
