The surveyor will lay out four squares with north and east baulks. We will excavate the northern 3 meters across the entire E-W width according to the following procedure: Temporarily maintaining the north baulk, we will excavate a trench from the baulk line 160 cm south to a depth of two meters. Next, we will draw and remove the north baulk. Then from an E-W line two meters north from the south edge of the locus we will dig a sloping wall face connecting the top and bottom. Finally, we will draw and remove the east baulk. a 4 nv while plotting relays of the outline of the "L" shaped arrangement of the large limestones and their individual shapes which were excavated in k13 and k23, jW noticed that one of the stones had not been assigned a feature number. Furthermore, it was not possible to positively identify which stones of the E-W line of four were previously designated. We assigned new feature numbers (f205, f206, f207, f208) to the stones and relayed each again. nr We began removing the four E-W stones today. Their pedistal and the soil surface on which the two N-S stones rested (f147) provide an opportunity to collect a ceramic sample to determine if the installation was used during the time after Mittani occupation. We expect that it was probably built by Middle Assyrians because the bottom of the stones was about 15cm above the mud glacis, f152, which was likely kept clean by Mittani temple worshipers. f 152 nr Careful excavation of the pedestal temporarily supporting the stones of a4 should provide an opportunity to see if the mud glacis, f152 covered the baqaya glacis for the entire E-W width of k13. What we called at the time of k13 excavation f120 and f121 were probably extensions of the wahal. Now, we see these features only along the E and W baulk lines.
