Su'ar and Mizar worked in the afternoon preparing for a major photograph and the excavation of jar, i31, on the morning of U919. -dy Removed all of accumulation, f352, between the west face of wall, f348, and the west baulk of k13 (q452). Determined that layer, f353, consisted of the interlinked burrows of small, social animals. Re-excavated the fill from pit, a17 (q423). While cleaning the bottom of f352, noticed a gray mudbrick floor suface, designated f355 north of the cut of pit a17 and west of the west face of wall, f348. Upon removing it we encountered a large jar smashed flat, but resting upright. Found the apparent floor accumulation, designated f356, and the floor surface, f357, upon which i31 rests. Took an important series of photographs, v180, showing the relationship of all important features escavated so far as well as the jar, i31. f 354 ;ct other feature ;df vm ds volumetric material in the cut of pit a5, excavated in a previous season. It consisted of backfill, surface accumulation, and soil excavated in this season, MZ23. ;tc si f128 P1 U918 f 355 ;df pb ds a small section of mudbrick pavement. The bricks were gray and laid horizontally with gray mortar. It is possible that we cut a portion of it while excavating to find the west face of wall, f348, ;tc co f356 ;tc ab f348 f 356 ;df aa ds accumulation above a higly compacted dirt floor, f357. The sherds in it were randomly oriented suggesting that it may rather have been fill between the mudbrick pavement, f355, and the compacted floor, f357. ;tc co f357 ;tc ab f348 f 357 ;df fb ds highly compacted dirt floor upon which large jar, i31, rests. We conclude that it is a floor because of the above factors plus that it is level, it has small charcoal inclusions, and it has patches of the white powdery remains of decayed vegetative matter. ;tc ab f348 ;tc co f358
