The excavation notes for one (prepared by the supervisor vVE) do not mention the other. In fact vVE noted that both f533 and f557 were the earliest deposits that covered the second apron, f532. The logical conclusion is that f533 and f557 were the same deposit, excavated and recorded at separate locations at separate times. In fact, f557 was assigned to the bottom deposit in the excavated north baulk atop f532. Although the elevation was not recorded, v526 shows that f557 was the southern extension of f533. f 557 ha In a study season (2007-R) the year after f533 was excavated (2006-Q), mO entered the contact association, f533 covers f557. It marked the stopping point of excavations in these loci for the MZ18 season. ha For convenience at the time, a number, f331, in the series normally associated with excavations to the west was used. It happened at the end of the excavation season as the late Mittani accumulations south of the Early Dynamic III period revetment wall were being excavated to provide a line of sight from viewing towers to the exposed portions of the wall. Within this accumulation were a number of displaced stones. Several years later, we recognized the confusion as to location this "west" feature number caused, so we substituted a vacant "east" excavation number, f538, and transfered all data to it. f331 is now vacant. f 331 ds An unused feature number previously assigned to a natural accumulation whicn is now designated f538. f 595 ds Undifferentiated soil from somewhere near the surface of k107. pb This feature (originally designated as natural accumulation, ad) was excavated at the end of 2006. It was assigned a stratigraphic position in late Mittani accumulation f538 (f331), at approximate elevation 9150 in locus k106. This would have put it at the bottom of a sounding to the south of and below the top of EDIII revetment wall, f569. However, the measured elevation of f595 was 9319, at the level of topsoil in k107. The only way to preserve the integrity of the associated ceramics (q599) is to define the feature as undifferentiated soil (vm) and assign it to stratum s0. f 592 ;df vm ds Undifferentiated soil from a location to the south of revetment wall f569 in k106. pb This feature was identified as natural accumulation in k106 with one excavated q-lot, q592. The measured top elevation of the feature was 9031 (using marker m4389). Its coordinates were not recorded. A single marker, m4308 (with an elevation of 9274), located the q-lot. The ceramics from the q-lot have not been analyzed as of W905. A year later it was described as "a natural accumulation against the wall of k106." One possibility is that f592 is the accumulation in which the seven displaced stones of the original f593 were found. The first stone was noted as sitting in accumulation f578, while the others, recorded as subfeatures of f593 had no contact association. The elevations of these displaced stones ranged from 9039 to 9071, all of which are more compatible with a contact association of sitting in f578 than f592. Therefore, one must conclude that there is insufficient information to identify f592. The only way to preserve the integrity of the associated ceramics (q592) is to define the feature as undifferentiated soil (vm) and assign it to stratum s00. f 593 ds A displaced stone in k1 recoverd from a late Mittani accumlation f578 located to the south of and below the top of revetment wall, f569. pb This stone defined as a single feature, was located by three relays, and had a measured elevation. Its contact association was "sits in" f578. Six more stones were defined as individual sub-features of f593, with corresponding locations and elevations. A better approach would have been to assign separate feature numbers to these six stones. Therefore, the subfeatures will be replaced with feature numbers f637, f638, f639, f640, f641, and f642. All will have the contact association "sits in f578." f 637 df st ds A displaced stone in k1 recoverd from a late Mittani accumlation f578, which is located to the south of and below the top of revetment wall, f569. It was formerly designated as f593.1. f 638 df st ds A displaced stone in k1 recoverd from a late Mittani accumlation f578, which is located to the south of and below the top of revetment wall, f569. It was formerly designated as f593.2. f 639 df st ds A displaced stone in k1 recoverd from a late Mittani accumlation f578, which is located to the south of and below the top of revetment wall, f569. It was formerly designated as f593.3. f 640 df st ds A displaced stone in k1 recoverd from a late Mittani accumlation f578, which is located to the south of and below the top of revetment wall, f569. It was formerly designated as f593.4. f 641 df st ds A displaced stone in k1 recoverd from a late Mittani accumlation f578, which is located to the south of and below the top of revetment wall, f569. It was formerly designated as f593.5. f 642 df st ds A displaced stone in k1 recoverd from a late Mittani accumlation f578, which is located to the south of and below the top of revetment wall, f569. It was formerly designated as f593.6.
