.bk J05 .fl S729lH.j .fd daily journal for S729 .ei lH .ed S729 .rd S729 .ri lH -wk Fourteen assigned workmen reported. -sy bWP re-established the southern line of the north baulk of k22, so it conforms with the co-ordinate system we are using to excavate. Also she put three new markers in the southern and western sections of k34, and in the northern section of its eastern baulk. k 23 dy After clening this locus, we photographed it, v41, in a wide view that links its features(particularly f39) with the revetment wall, f3, and the feature sequence in the eastern section of J1. Then we started to excavate the natural accumulation, f48, inside the arc formed by the stones of f37 and f46. Then we extended the excavation to the south and noticed two new stones in the southeastern corner of this locus, that may be a part of the top of the revetment wall, f3. After claeaning, we photographed the new evidence, v42. k 22 dy We started to remove the irregularly shaped part of the north baulk, f72. It was left over from previous excavations. k 34 dy After removing the rest of the eastern baulk, we started to excavate the southern half of the baulk, where we found two new lines of stones, which form staircase, f21. The first step(which is the fourth in the staircase) is formed by three flat stones. It was distinguished by a horizontal circular hole in the western section - in the south half of the second stone face. The hole could have been previously used as a door socket or a pole to support a light roof. The hollowed stone may not be in situ, but reused. The second line of stones that formed the second newly descovered step, includes two stones, with a rough surface. To the west of the last mentioned step, which is the fifth step in the staircase, f21, we found a new feature, f70, under the lamination of f63. The new feature seems very compact and flat. Its elevation is 9090 which is the same as the top of the revetment wall, f3. We photographed the wide view, v44, of k24 and k34, and the relationships between the staircase and the floor which abuts it, f45. Then, we dug below the northern half of the eastern baulk of k34 and recovered new stones, that are a part of stone installation, f14, and located at the north border of the lowest step of staircase, f21. k 43 dy After removing the topsoil, f56, we found a natural accumulation, f68. The new feature was soft and chunky. In the western border of this locus we found a new line of stones, f71, that sits in the last mentioned accumulation. We photographed this new feature after cleaning it, v43. To the east of this stone installation we found a new layer that was full of fist-sized stones and pottery sherds. It may be a floor associated with stones, f71. f 69 ds The natural accumulation in the southeastern quadrant of k24. It is limited by the stones of f14 from the north, and the upper stones of f21 from the west. f 70 ds A naturally compacted soil layer that abuts the lowest step of the stairecase, f21, in the southeastern quadrant of k34. It is highly compact flat surface, formed of fine grains, which is free of any pottery sherds, stones or inclusions. f 71 ds A line of stones at the western border of k43. It consists of thirteen big limestones, that may by the continuation of the stone installation of f28 in k44. f 72 ds A pillar of soil along the north baulk of k22 that is the remnant of previous excavations conducted to expose the outer face of revetment wall, f3.
