.bk J05 .fl S824lH2.j .fd daily journal for S824 .fn edited by jW on T314 to remove reference to k31. Changed to k100. .ei lH .ed S824 .rd S824 .ri lH -wk Nineteen assigned workmen reported. Eight workmen detailed from A20 reported. -dy We started our excavating day by taking relays, elevations and photos for the new q-lots and features. At about 0630, a strong sandy and rainy storm (see VC1, VC2, and VC8) came and disturbed our work, so we stopped our site-work and came back to the house to have a UGR day. k 100 dy We started digging the topsoil, f159, of the southwestern extension of this locus in order to see the stone structures in k22, k23 and k24 more clearly from the Panorama to the south of J5. k 34 dy We continued excavating the southern part of the lamination, f128, that abuts the last step of the staircase, f21. This lamination was covered by the compact flat surface, f70. It`s covering the laminar accumulation, f135. k 12 dy We started removing the natural accumulation, f158, after we photographed the water chanel, v104, that cuts its way through this accumulation. We began to cut a new section of the east face of the east baulk in order to dig effectively for the escarpment of revetment wall, f3. The escarpment begins and can be seen clearly as feature 239 in J1 and continues to the west. It most probably ends as f74 of wall f41 in the middle of J5. -sf After a meeting with gB, jW and lH completed the view log, sNP finished processing objects and dL finished the templates and drawings. All members will review the Harris Matrices and strata assignments in the afternoon. -sg gB and jW met on site after work was stopped to make final plans for the excavation. We will excavate k100 as planned using sloping sides on the southern edge. We will excavate two triangular sections on the northeastern corners of k31 and k32 to improve sightlines from the panorama. We will complete the mini-section in k34 to see how previously excavated soil features contact the bottom step of the staircase, f21. Finally we will excavate in a 50cm wide strip with abuts revetment wall, f3, moving from J1 to the west. The purpose will be to expose and trace the escarpment which can be seen clearly in the east baulk of k11.
