Archaeology for a young future.
How an archaeological site in Syria has come to stand as a symbol of pride in the past and of hope for the future.

     Archaeology deals with a distant past. But it holds today, in Syria, a promise for a young future.

     It is a young future because the youth are at the core of the dynamics that propels Syria forwards.
     It is also a young future because archaeology walks into it with a new vigor. It is archaeology as such that also finds itself young.

     As this catalogue shows, at the exhibit in Beirut we told a particular story about this young new archaeology, about its new young future. It is the story of an archaeological site, Tell Mozan, that has withstood the test of war accepting it as a challenge.
     It is the story of the extraordinary synergy between archaeologists and the stakeholders, all finding a strong commonality in a firm sense of shared values.
     L'archeologia ha a che fare con un passato lontano. Ma oggi, in Siria, l'archeologia racchiude una una promessa per un futuro giovane.

     Un "futuro giovane" perché i giovani sono al centro delle dinamiche che proiettano la Siria verso il proprio futuro, ma anche un "futuro giovane" perché l'archeologia vi entra con nuovo vigore.
     Così, è l'archeologia in quanto tale che si riscopre giovane.

     Come mostra questo catalogo, alla mostra di Beirut abbiamo raccontato un episodio particolare di questa nuova archeologia giovane e del suo nuovo e giovane futuro. Abbiamo descritto la storia di un sito archeologico, Tell Mozan, che ha resistito alla prova della guerra accettandola come una sfida; è la storia della straordinaria sinergia tra gli archeologi e delle comunità locali, trovando tutti una forte comunanza in un solido senso di valori condivisi.
