Introduction

The Urkesh Eco-Archaeological Park volume is intended as a publication of the theoretical and practical aspects of the Park with chapters from the different cooperative groups and universities on specific aspects such as economics, the development of mini-museums, site presentation and more, including input from Syrian authors.
The volume is divided into four main sections:

I. THE PARK AS A PORTAL
II. THE ARCHAEOLOGICAL COMPONENT
III. THE MUSEOGRAPHIC COMPONENT
IV. THE SOCIO-ECONOMIC DIMENSION

Within each section several chapters will illuminate the various aspects and approaches to these four major components of the project.

Progress

During the last year (2013) the team has made considerable progress on the volume. Additionally, 2013 has provided opportunities to add additional authors with new and valuable perspectives to the volume. This past year has focused on incorporating these new ideas and perspectives into the broader concept of the Park, specifically the incoporation of these new papers into the book.
Several chapters are now in final revisions after having undergone significant development in the last year. Some additional chapters continue to be under development by their respective authors
