When I returned, f380 had been fully excavated. With anticipation of guests the following day, extra time was devoted to straightening all sections and removing all loose dirt. f 364 dy finished uncovering f364, and started the removal of the next layer (i.e., per tentative proposal of strata, ac f371) in the Eastern section of k22 (between the excavation lines). f 371 nr among the discoveries in this latter accumulation was a fully intact conical cup (q892.3) almost leaning against the E wall (f200), a broken conical cup (i306), and a brick with abutting sherd in the SW corner of this Eastern section. f 380 ds brown, black and grey patches flowing from one color to the next. The perimeter of the depression is marked by a direct connection to f374 (f374 opens into f380); f376 sits in this depression. A small rh cuts, or perhaps better "pierces" the Western edge of the depression. Ash was found within the depression in large quantity and collected (i307). Given the traffic of rodent holes leading to this feature, f380 resembles a burrow for the rodent that created f374 and f375. One pickman discovered a gypsum coating under f364. f 380 ar the deposits of ash within f380 suggest that it is not a burrow for the rodent which created f374. The gypsum coating under f364 could be f370. f 374 ds a clear section could be seen on each side. .ri rk f 379 22 fi 380 22 uk 381 22 aa .ri bsh 382 22 bk i 304 367 22 891 sm contents of i303 (layer of red soil inside) 305 372 22 sm contents of i300 .ri rk 306 364 22 892 cv conical cup, broken 307 381 22 895 sm ash sample 308 365 22 ma 15 bronze "wire" .ri bsh q 892 pb 367 22 E 0-100S 8358-131 5 5 to 10 cms down - finishing E section .ri rk 893 p 367 22 8352-139 3 continues 892 894 pb 379 22 8350-139 895 pb 381 22 .ri bsh qi 892.1 ca 1 1 possible si-lump shaped 892.2 ca 3 2.5 possible si-w/ fingerprints 892.3 cv 3 10 4 conical cup .rd H705 .ri bsh -wk one pickman and one dirt carrier joined the crew of k22 creating a total of three and two respectively. After breakfast, one pickman had to remove himself for the day due to illness. k 22 dy the pickmen were spread out, one was assigned the pursuit of the surface with the gysum coating, another was assigned the removal of the top layer of accumulation of on the E side of f374. The third and later pickman was assigned the removal of the next layer of accumulation leading from the Western edge of f378 Southwestward. All pickmen met at the same level, heading S, this lead them to the area dense of sherds. En route, they passed over an intermediate surface until instructed to stop and pursue that surface instead (a clump of soil was taken as a sample and shows clearly the layers here encountered). Here one pickman was excused. One continued the pursuit of this new surface ultimately to begin the removal of the dense collection of sherds to the south, the other pickman was assigned the removal of the accumulation of f356. Four bricks were discovered to the N, abutting the outer surface of the oven wall. Also, a path through the damaged, disengaged, W portion of the oven wall was discovered leading from the top extant edge of the oven wall into f374. Extra time was devoted to cleaning and straightening out all sections for kite photos later in the afternoon. f 370 ar that the two pickmen met at the same level allows the assertion that they are uncovering f370; accordingly, the accumulation from which they are drawing sherds, etc. is here identified as f371. i 296 nr item 296, which had previously been triangulated, was removed from the floor. i 297 nr item 297, which had previously been triangulated, was removed from the floor. k 22 sg the present itinerary includes bringing all strata to the level of f370, removing the accumulation to the S of the threshold, and removing the numerous layers of accumulation still extent in the doorway at the NW corner of k22. i 309 371 22 sm from i297 310 371 22 sm shows layers of accumulation above f370 311 371 22 899 bd 0.3 0.3 near SW corner of k22, W half 312 371 22 899 ba 3 3 worked? q 896 pb 371 22 SW 150E 200N 8360-144 5 5 to 10 cms down - uncovers gypsum fl (f370) 897 pb 371 22 SE 200N 200W 8360-144 5 5 to 10 cms down - 898 pbl 371 22 NE 150S 8360-140 10 ac around oven 899 p 371 22 continues 897
