These layers, if in fact they are laminations, will actually be f372, since we found the laminations last season on the eastern side of the locus. It is possible that they are related to those found in f384 (see v200). v 200 ds This view shows the possible water laminations found in f384, outside of f387. It is possible that they are related to the laminations in f371 (see v199). v 201 ds This view shows the second, lower carbon/charcoal area exposed, f391. The function of these two pieces of wood is unknown. v 202 ds This view, like v201, shows f391, the second patch of burnt material found in the k26 south section. The function of these two pieces of wood is unknown. It also shows the white layer of (presumably) decayed plant material right next to it, the first of these layers observed in the section. We had discovered them at approximately this elevation two seasons ago, but this was the first which we had discovered since then. v 203 ds Like the two previous views, this view was also taken of f391, the carbon, in conjunction with the white layers. It gives a better idea of the location of the carbon within the section. v 204 ds This shows the newly revealed laminations underneath f371 in the northern half of k27 (see view 199). The laminations are f372, which we originally only had in the eastern half of the locus, but now seems extend throughout the locus, under f372 and f369. v204a and v204b are both pictures of the laminations further west, especially the step of f371 above f369. v 205 ds This view looks at the lowest level of the south baulk of k26. The exposed area is the top of f348, however, the white floor is slightly below the current level of the baulk. v205a is a closeup of the exposed area of the white floor, just north of the area of the baulk. v205b shows another of the stones of f353, newly revealed through Stef's digging into the subfloor in order to take the thin section column f389. v205c is a closeup of the bricky mass which was first observed in the baulk last season, a part of f393. v205d looks at the well-preserved plaster on the wall, f400. v205e is a closeup of the bricky mass, f393. Although none of the "bricks" were of any quality, materials of different colors with sharply marked edges, often in a brick shape, were traceable in the surface. Perhaps it is a part of f355, a brick apron found in the south east of f348 last season, with similar material. v 206 ds This view shows the base of the k26 south baulk after some of the bricks had been cut away. The bricky matter extended along most of the wall, as the pictures show. v206a is a tight view of the western side of f393, and v206b is a tight view of the eastern side. .ri ms f 400 26 plaster 8159 401 27 fa 8122-102 f 401 ds white floor found in section removal, not in main excavation q 999 pbi 382 27 r717 72S 305E 8055 35 south baulk removal, south wall curves for varying width: west side, 30S; middle, 72S; east, 10S 1000 pb 384 27 r718 72S 305E 8020 22 continuation of baulk removal in k27, south wall curves for varying width: west side, 30S; middle, 72S; east, 10S 1001 p 387 27 r722 72S 160W 8158 160 3 removal of f387 in south baulk of k27, south wall curves for varying width: middle, 72S; east, 10S 1002 pb 392 27 r719 72S 305E 8158 160 13 removal of f392 in south baulk of k27, south wall curves for varying width: west side, 30S; middle, 72S; east, 10S 1003 pbi 392 27 r720 72S 305E 8145 160 18 removal of f392 south baulk 1004 p 371 27 r721 72S 70E 8137 170 5 removal of south baulk 1005 p 395 27 r723 168E 60S 8122 162 5 .ri dc list2 q df ht J2 w1 w2 wm sh co nd 999.1 sh shell 999.2 la lithic artifact (obsidian) 1003.1 ca clay egg 1003.2 cs carbon 1003.3 la endlist v 221 W gk26 east face of west corner of south baulk, k26 222 S gk27 last part of south baulk in k27 222a E gk27 east corner of last part of south baulk
