It is in the SW corner of the phase 5 courtyard a52. No fill was recorded. Its surface is red indicating heated soil from an unknown industrial activity involving fire. a 56 df cy ds A couryard formed by sherd pavement f208, platform f214 that was topped with concave surface f215, stone pavement f105, and well f145, most of which were linked by path f201. Horse bones were found below the platform surface, suggesting a ceremonial function for the aggregate. f 598 df pt-c ds Part of a large pit seen in section in the vicinity of pit kilns a30 and a31. The soil is reddish indicating heating. Although the photo, t160 shows no kiln waste, the cut was likely for another kiln. Pit aggregate, a57, assigned with fill f338. tc cu f331 a 57 df pt-a ds Section of a large pit in the vicinity of kilns a30 and a31. It was also cut into the same accumulation, f331. Burned soil and a block of charred soil along the S end indicate possible funcion as a kiln. Cut was f598 and fill was f338. f 338 tc si f598 f 528 tc co f581 tc co f594 f 599 df pc ds Pebble and sherd path running N to S and that sits atop the north part of the collapse of wall, f528. Seen in section. tc re f528 f 528 pb This feature has two parts. The first is a well founded palace structural wall seen in view, v235. Masked by the sunlight, there is a collapsed portion that extends to the north as seen in view, v183. For the purpose of present analysis it probably would have been better to assign a seprate feature to the fallen north portion of f528. a 58 df r ds Small semi-enclosed space in the far SW corner of locus k5. On the east it is bounded by the mudbrick wall, f387. On the south it is bounded by what we assume is the south outer wall of the palace, f398 and f390. On the west it is bounded by the west baulk of k5. It is more or less open on the north side but there is a stub wall, f443 at the NW corner. The function of the space is not currently known.
