.bk A20 .fl U907yM.j .fd daily journal .rd U906 .ri yM .ed U907 .ei yM -dy Today we started excavating in A20. We are begining by digging 2 squares, k23 and k24 located north of k13 and k14. We are removing the topsoil layer in both squares. For the first 5cm of the top soil feature in both squares we did not keep the pottery because it is probably contaminated. .rd U907 .ri yM -dy Today we continued removing the top soil in k23 and k24. Going down in k23 we found a patch of stones. We will have a better prospective of things when we continue digging and cleaning tomorrow. As for k24 we found what could be a stone installation in the north western corner of the square and a patch of stones in the western part of the loci. Tomorrow we will continue going down in both of squares to get a better understanding. .rd U906 .ri yM k 23 dy Today we started excavating in this locus by removing the top soil layer f155. For the first 5cm we did not collect the pottery because it is contaminated. k 24 dy We started excavating in k24 by removing the top soil layer f156. For the first 5cm we did not collect the pottery because its contaminated. .rd U907 .ri yM k 23 dy Today we continued with the top soil removal in k23. Going down we came across some patches of stones. Tomorrow we will continue removing the top soil revealing the stones better. k 24 dy We continued removing the top soil layer. Going down we found a stone installation in the north western corner. We also found a patch of stones in the western part of the loci. Tomorrow we will have a better understanding of the situation. .rd U908 .ri yM .ed U908 .ei yM -dy Today we continued removing the last few cm of the top soil layer f155 in k23 to reach the layer underneath it in which some of the stones are enbedded. As we are scraping we found a pavement type C f162 which consist of small pebbles and sherds. As for k24 we continued the top soil removal f156, underneath it, in the south western corner we came across a sherd and pebbles pavement, to which we did not assigne a feature number yet, we want to understand the situation better. k 23 dy We proceeded in k23 by removing the last few cm of the top soil f155 to uncover the stones and the layer in which they are enbedded. We also found a small pebble and sherds pavement to which we gave a new feature number f162. k 24 dy Today we continued removing the top soil layer f156 and below it we found a sherds and pebble pavement, extending in the south western corner. .rd U912 .ri yM .ed U912 .ei yM -dy Today we started by cleaning the squares to take pictures. Then we assigned new feature numbers and relayed the stones and the pavement in k23. Then we removed f161 which is a isolated stone, after that we started to remove f157 which is the layer to the north of the stone installation f159 and the wall f168. In the mean while in k24 we started the work by leveling the square to take pictures, we assigned a new feature number (f163) to the layer in the eastern part of the loci and we started to remove it. k 23 dy We began today by cleaning the square for pictures, then we gave to the stones and the pavement feature numbers and we relayed them. The isolated stone f161, sitting in the topsoil was removed. After that we started removing f157 which is the natural accumulation layer that sourrounds the stones f159 and the wall f168. We will probably finish the removal tomorrow. k 24 dy We started today by leveling the square to take pictures then we assigned a feature number (f163) to the natural accumulation layer locatd in the eastern part of the square. Then we started to remove this natural accumulation, but probably we will finish tomorrow. .rd U913 .ri yM .ed U913 .ei ym -dy Today we started by removing the part we did not finish from f157 in k23 but we dont know where the feature finishes exactly. Then we started removing the pavement f162. Removing the pavement we found two stones under the western part of the pavement, and also a very hard layer (f169) that resembles a brick melt. We are not sure yet, and we still have some patches of f157 to remove in the north eastern corner that we are excavating. As for k24 we continued removing f163, we finished but we still need to clean it well to take pictures and then remove it. k 23 -dy Yesterday we started excavating f157 in the north eastern corner of this square but we did not finish it, so today we started by removing what we have left from the feature in that corner then we moved to removing the pavement f162. While doing that we found two stones under the western part of the pavement. When we finished removing the pavement, we found under it a very hard gray layer that resembles a brick melt but we will hold that thought about the definition until we finish removing the last few patches of f157. So we will have a better exposure of this layer allowing a better understanding of it. k 24 dy today we continued going down in the eastern part of the square, still removing f163. We probably reached the bottom of that feature, so tomorrow we will clean and have a better look. .rd U914 .ri yM .ed U914 .ri yM -dy Yesterday we decided to hire workmen so today we opened the new square k25 east of k24 in which we started working by removing the top soil layer f167 then the natural accumulations layer under it, f170. In k24 we cleaned for a while then we moved to work in k23 where we scraped the rest of f157 to expose the hard floor surface f169 underneath it, that we thought before that it resembles a brick melt. Scraping next to the eastern section, close to wall f168, we came across a pavement of pebble and sherd, probably the same as the pavement in k24, f165. In order to understand the situation better and expose the features we decided to remove the eastern baulk of k23. After drawing the section we removed it. Underneath the baulk we found to the north more stones that are the continuation of f164, while we didn't find stones linking wall f168 with wall f171. To the south we found the continuation of pavement f162 going to the east and linking up with pavement f166. k 24 dy Today we just cleaned for a while then we stopped working in this locus for the day. k 25 dy Today we opened this square that we began excavating in MZ21. We started by removing the top soil layer f167 then the natural accumulation layer f170 that was under it. We did not finish the removal yet, we will continue tomorrow. k 23 dy Today we continued scraping the last few cms of f157 to reveal the brick melt like material under it that turned out to be a kind of floor similar to f169 but much more bad preserved. While we were scraping the eastern section of the square, next to wall f168 we found a pavement, probably the same as the pavement f165 in k24. To have a better understanding of the situation we decided to remove the eastern baulk of the square. We draw the section and we started to remove the topsoil f155. In the northern part of the baulk, under the top soil we found more stones which are the continuation of f164. Since we have the wall f168 in k23 that allines with the wall f171 in k24, we expected to find stones which are the continuation of the walls under the baulk, but we did not find any stones. While under the southern part of the baulk we found the continuation of the pavement f162 that goes further to the east and appears to be the same as f166 that was located on top of pavement f165 in the south west corner of k24.
