On top of the northern wall f288 there is a thin ashy layer f341 that seems continuing to the west on top of stones f339. The view, and most of all the sub view v400a want to show this relationship. This is really important to understand the different features of that portion in order to clearly date them. At the beginning we thought that the western portion of the ash f341 was part of the ashy layer f278, instead it turned out to be the contrary. The picture also shows the compact accumulation f345 abutting both the walls f259 and f288 and overlying the stones of f336. 400a t N gk127,129 gf259,288,339,344,341,196 Sub view showing the relationship between the ash f341 on top of wall f288 and the ash to the west. From this picture is clear that these two ashy accumulations are the same. It means that the early escarpment to the west is much higher than to the east, rising up, and also that the second escarpment is much thinner if compared to the filling visible in the east section of k127 (v394). 400b m NE gk127,129 gf288,345,239,341,339,196 Sub view showing the ash f341 in the small portion of k129 linked with the ash accumulation on top of wall f288. They belong to the same feature and it is clearly different from the ash layer f278 that was instead on top of the early escarpment f196. 401 N gk129,127 gf318,239,339,338,343,342,341,288,196,278 View showing the pebbles f343 continuing to the north after removal of the ash f341. Its function, together with the patch of baqaya f342 was probably to divert the water coming from the west. Probably also protecting the western face of wall f259 before both the escarpments were built. 401b S gk129,131 gf338,259,343,342,346,363 Sub view showing the pebbles alignment f343 running north to south parallel to wall f259, forming a sort of boundary against the water flowing coming from west. It is likely connected to the baqaya f342 abutting the western top part of wall f259. 402 OH gk131 gf343,342,346,338,363,259 View showing the small sounding k131 after the removal of floor f338. On top of this accumulation was put both the pebbles alignment and the baqaya f342. 403 N gk127 gf309,348,349,345,336,288,347,321 View showing k127 after the removal of part of f345 uncovering more collapsed stones belonging to f336 and f349. Likely the stones f349 came from wall f349. In the background is visible the wall f288 hardly damaged, in part probably by the late ED III cut for the construction of the second escarpment and in part from earlier damage. In its eastern portion the wall is preserved just at a lower level. In the foreground there is the natural floor f348 and the bottom of the ash accumulation f278. 403a t N gk127 gf348,336,349,345,347 This sub view shows some collapsed stones belonging to f336 and f349 uncovered after the removal of a small portion of f345. These stones are likely coming from the walls f288 and f259 and they are clearly collapsed as shown by their sharp inclination and unorganized nature. 403b t N gk127 gf288,347,336,349 Sub view showing the particular of a big sherd lying vertical still in f329, next to the south face of wall f288, at the same level of the collapsed stones f336. .rd T813 .ri lC 404 N gk127,130 gf259,288,345,361,336,349,348,350,278,344 ga8 View showing the excavation in progress in k127. Removed the accumulation f347 more stones belonging to wall f288 running to the east, were uncovered. To the west is visible the big accumulation f345 abutting a8 and covering part of the collapsed stones. On top of this accumulation the two big floating stones f361 show perhaps a later event of collapse. The view shows also the fact that the two big stone walls f288 and f259 are bonded and form a clear corner, below the break f344, likely caused by water flowing from the west. 404a OH gk127,130 gf348,349,288,259,345,341,361,350 ga8 View showing the structure a8 with the big accumulation f345 in the western half of the locus. The picture shows also the small sounding k130 to the left, excavated to look for the bottom of wall f288. This over head shot clearly shows the corner formed by the two walls and all the collapsed stones belonging to f336 and f349 forming like the third side of a triangle. 404b OH gk127,130 gf288,336,345,349,348,350 View showing the small irregular sounding k130 excavated in order to find the base of wall f288, visible to the north. The shape of the sounding is irregular because of the presence of many collapsed stones belonging to f336 and f349. In the sounding is visible the compact natural accumulation f350, abutting the lower stones of the wall f288. 404c t N gk127,130 gf288,345,336,350 View showing a particular of wall f288 stepping down to the east, probably damaged from the late ED III cut made in order to build the second escarpment, and probably damaged also by earlier erosion episodes. 405 OH gk131 gf353,351,343,342,363,338,346 View showing the patch of baqaya f353 uncovered removing part of the accumulation f346. It is running parallel to wall f259, but its shape is irregular and its function probably is linked to protect the western side of the wall itself. In the western half of k131 there is the sloping floor f351. 406 N gk130 gf288,349,350,336 ga8 View showing the stone wall f288 stepping down to the east, with the lower stones uncovered removing f347. To the south of the stones, abutting them, there is the accumulation f350. The wall is in part damaged by the late ED III cut made to rebuilt the second escarpment and in part probably by the erosion happened in the earlier part of ED III. So it is plausible that the collapsed stones f349 and some belonging to f336 were in antiquity part of this wall. 406a w OH gk130 gf349,288,350,348 This sub view shows the accumulation f350, slightly different from f347 above, abutting the lower stones of f288. To the south are visible some collapsed stones belonging to f349 and others to f336. These stones before the collapse were likely part of wall f288. 407 OH gk131 gf353,351,342,259,346,363 This view shows the baqaya f353 completely exposed, unlikely to what shown in v405. The surface of the baqaya is irregular and this is probably due to its function to protect the wall f259 by the water coming from west. The picture also shows the sloping floor f351 and the northern part of the pebble alignment f343 that together with baqaya f342 was used to protect the western face of wall f259. 407a S gk131 gf353,259,351,342 View showing the baqaya f353 with a really irregular surface, probably for the water erosion.
