It is in part overlaying the material of the second escarpment, and in part the earlier Ninevite 5 floors. The pavement was built during EDIII with the later rebuilding of Second Escarpment. Originally the Plaza possibly had a beaten floor, unfortunatly not archaeologically recorded. We assume it was replaced with a pebbles pavement for big water problems that was collected in the plaza. The feature includes the construction and the use of this pavement. =l f238 =l f240 =l f325 nr The features was created long after the end of the last excavation season in 2009. Its records are included under f238, f240 and f325, and was created to allow the strata assignement, since two different moments (construction/use and second use) were considered as one during the excavation. The other feature corresponding to the later, Mittani use is f901. lc 129 lc 126 lc 127 f 901 df aa ds Use of the pavement f900 (see also f238, f240, f325) dating to Mittani period. At first we thought pavement and use were both dating to Mittani period, but it turned out the construction was dated to the EDIII and the second use to the Mittani period. Since the pavement of the Plaza was very likely used during the periods in between (i.e EDII, Akkadian, Khabur) and no accumulations are found, the surface was probably kept clean. =l f238 =l f240 =l f325 nr The features was created long after the end of the last excavation season in 2009. The other feature corresponding to the EDIII construction of the pavement is f900. lc 129 lc 126 lc 127 ^ pav2 ev The pavement was later assigned to EDIII, unlike earlier thought. The pottery coming from this pavement is mixed (Mittani, EDIII and Ninevite 5) and this was the starting point for a stratigraphic review that brought to a new assignement. Now the construction is dated to EDIII on the bases of pottery sherds, and mainly for stratigraphic relationships: the pavement overlays the Second Escarpment, it is going to the West until J5 where it is covered by EDIII accumulations. sm EDIII pebble pavement of the Plaza, used until Mittani period, when the first accumulation on top of it started to be formed. It means the pavement was kept clean for about one thousand years. f 238 pb This feature (as f240 and f325) was interpreted as the first Mittani pavement in the Plaza. Further analisys show the pavement was built in EDIII and used until Mittani period. The two different moments were excavated as a single one, so the pottery is mixed Mittani, EDIII and Ninevite 5 (coming from levels underneath). ha To distinguish from a cronological point of view the two moments (EDIII construction/use and Mittani use) we created two features f900 (EDIII construction) and f901 (Mittani use) that were respectively assigned to s610-J1A and s190-J1A. The other records remain under f238, f240 and f325. sm EDIII pebble pavement used until Mittani period. f 240 pb This feature (as f238 and f325) was interpreted as the first Mittani pavement in the Plaza.
