Description (summary) 2006-02-12 jW Drawing of the section of the north baulk of k12 prior to its removal in preparation for excavating a deep sounding immediately to the north, k102. The location of the sounding was later moved to the southern half of k12. Noteworthy are four large floating stones, f21,f41,f45,f46 which must have rolled downhill from installations closer to temple BA after the mound was abandoned. Soil accumulations, f37 and f38 were noticed during the process of preparing the drawing, after this part of the excavation was completed . [Input: Q212JW.j]

Description (summary) 2006-02-12 jW Drawing of the section of the east baulk of k12, done about one week after JO3w001. The accumulations form a series of layers. Features 1, 2, 31, 33, and 37 probably were deposited after the use of the temple mound ceased. Features 34, 38, and 42 were layers formed during the process of constructing the monumental wall, f11, immediately to the south and below the wall apron, f10, identified by its large stones. Although these include several more lenses of bakhia, the main features are irregularly shaped pockets of compacted fill placed behind the stones of the monumental wall to construct the mound upon which the BA temple was built. The apparent imprecision of the drawing reflects the methodology of the deposition of fills with a variety of components from a variety of sources, some identified in section after excavation was completed for the season. Description (summary) 2006-02-12 jW Drawing of the section of the east baulk of k101, a locus formed by combining a part of the SE corner of k12 and all of k11. It encompasses the monumental wall, f11, its apron, f10 (not shown here but shown as part of the section of the extant east baulk of k12). The major soil features are a series of accumulations (f7, f8, f9, f13, f86, f87, and f30) deposited naturally after f11 went out of use. The section stops at the top of accumulation f43, whose manner of deposition is unclear at this time. Accumulation features f86 and f87, demarked by subtle changes in soil color, were not recognized during the excavation phase. [Input: Q212JW.j]
