Student Ibrahim told us that this would be his last day of work. Before breakfast, jW, rE and gM developed Harris Matrices for all loci in the field. Then, gM worked at home after breakfast preparing Freehand drawings of them. For one hour before breakfast and one hour after breakfast, jW worked at home writing journal files. -eq Re-installed the elevator in k12 to lift the dirt removed from the locus of the probe behind the wall, k104. In order to protect the bakhia surface of the terrace, f50, we covered it with a cotton cloth and founded the scoop on several burlap bags filled with dirt. k 103 sg gB reminded us of the need to step in the S baulk of the locus as we proceeded down. This is accomplished by leaving one meter ledges that run E-W at elevations 9000, 8800, etc., which will then be cut back to produce a gradual slope to prevent the baulk collapses we see in other parts of the excavation. We are taking all elevations from marker m4118, whose elevation is 9189. As of breakfast, we need to excavate down another 88 cm before stepping the first ledge. dy Photographed, v18, then removed the two large unfounded stones, f54, runnining E-W out of the middle of the E baulk. Continued to excavate the laminations, f56. k 104 dy During the first pick run of the day in accumulation, f57, encountered another sloping layer of bakhia, similar to f50. Designated it f58, and began carefully following it from the N, down toward the monumental wall, f11. f 54 I12 Stones probably came from one of the temple installations and were washed down the mound to near their present location where they may have been re-used. Phase assigned to equal that of the accuumulation in which they sit.
