A partial crew of 10 reported for work in the afternoon. -sf eI sick at home all day. cC detailed from J4 for field work all day. vN detailed from J4 for field work in the morning. rE relieved jW in the field for one hour so that he could work on the journal at home. -eq The elevator ran perfectly all day. k 23 dy Today we excavated the contents of pit, a10, and dug it, pit a5, and pit a6 to a depth of about one meter to sample the contents of the packed fill beneath the baqaya layer, f109, f50. Each yielded Late Chalcolithic sherds similar to those found in the deep sounding beneath f50 in the typological column, k104 and k105, excavated near the monumental wall, f11, in season MZ18 (2005-P). jW was hopeful that pit a10 would contain a burial, but that was not the case - the fill was virtually clean and soft and contained but few sherds. k 108 dy As we began to excavate the narrow trench in k109 to probe for the monumental wall, f11, we extended it east to encompass all of this locus. At the end of the day we had reached the top memory stones and the first two rows of stones along the south face. k 109 dy We continued to dig in the narrow trench against the south face of the monumental wall, f11. Upon reaching the level of the memory stones and the first two rows of stones along the south face, we stopped. We then began removing accumulation f253, from the trench south face south to the north baulk of k94.
