Definition 2006-08-29 sc accumulation D [Input: Q902SC.j]
Description (summary) 2010-01-22 sC This is the top accumulation on top of k84. f69 is a wind-blown accumulation that build-up in the N portion of the locus in the last two years. The N portion of k84 was investigated in 2004 by mH as part of J02 Unit and was not covered after the excavations carried out in the 2004 excavation season. f69 is soft in consistence, crumbly when removed and fine texture. It is characterized by the presence of pottery sherds, pebbles and stones. It is light grayish in colour. [Input: U122SC.j]

3. STRATIGRAPHY

Recovery/Assignment

Roster Date Author Record
Evolution 2010-02-17 sC f69 should belong to Phase 67-MZA, stratum 12a. However, f69 has been assigned to Phase 85-MZA s1 since f69 is a natural accumulation over uncovered excavation from MZ17 in k84 and consists of wind-blown soil that build-up in the N portion of the locus in the last two years; for this reason, we treated this feature as a modern topsoil. [Input: U216SC3.j]
Notes on recovery 2010-01-22 sC What we have been investigated, in the beginning of the 2006 excavation in this locus, was a small area of k84, i.e., the N portion of k84 (1,80cm S and 400cm W to m4412): this was as well the portion of k84 investigated by mH in the 2004 excavation season. At the end of the 2006 season, this locus was not covered (cfr. J2t61), therefore, the top accumulation we met in k84 is the same of the last one excavated by mH in MZ17, with some cm of wind-blown soil fallen in the period between the two excavation seasons. XXX f69 it is thus a natural accumulation but the top-most of the feature is a recent accumulation, since this locus was previously dug by mH and aP in the 2004 excavation season, and on top of this some water-and wind born accumulations build-up in the last 2 years. Volumetric Localization

Roster Date Author Record
Locus 2006-08-29 mnh k84 [Input: Q903PC3.j]
Elevation 2010-01-19 sC We start digging k84 in order to reach, in this locus, the same elevation of the bottom of the German trench C10 that interests k73 and k83. Given that this locus was partially already investigated by mH and aP in the 2004 excavation season as part of the J02 Unit, the N portion of k84 was lower in elevation (as visible in J2t61), we start digging only the N portion of this locus, which is aprox. half of the whole locus, in particular, 180m S and 400m W from marker m4412.
