2. IDENTIFICATION

Designation

Roster Date Author Record
Description (summary) 2010-02-04 sC This is a very hard and compact layer that slopes sharply toward east and slightly toward south. We recognise this feature to be the glacis layer (i.e., a coating hard surface done with mud mixed to small calcite inclusions and small sherds) that it has been already exposed in J03 area in the previous days. In the south portion of the locus (toward walls f161, f162) f127 is slightly eroded, and there a sherd floor (f154) has been exposed. The glacis layer is very hard and compact; the very topmost surface flakes off after exposition, although it is very compact, and comes apart in chunks; sometimes, the top surface flakes off just by walking on top of it. 3. STRATIGRAPHY

Recovery/Assignment

Roster Date Author Record
Notes on recovery 2010-02-04 sC f127, as already said, slopes sharply toward the East portion of the locus. The glacis layer follows as well the slope of the tell surface, which, in this locus presents a discrete difference in elevation between the top elevation in the north portion of the locus and the top elevation in the south portion of the locus (there are approximately 20cm of difference between the top elevation in the north respect to the top elevation in the south portion of the locus). The elevation of f127 given as main, has been taken in the north portion of the locus. [Input: U204SC.j]
2010-02-16 sC f127 in k72, which is the glacis layer was layed on top of the mound in Phase 63-MZA, is the same as f177 in k82. We assigned two different feature numbers to this glacis layers because this feature was initially dug in two different loci and being overlayed by the E baulk of k82 (f123); once f123 was removed, appeared that f127 was clear that f77 was the same as f127. Stratigraphic reasons of assignment 2010-03-10 sC Assignment based on nature of accumulation and on the fact that the glacis appear to be under f10 and seems to go against the revetement wall, as known from J01 and J03 area. [Input: U310SC.j]
