This feature consists, stratigraphically, of f3, f6, f9, f13 and f55, i.e., the features previously dug within this locus. f3, f6, f9, f13 and f55 are all natural accumulations and are all very similar in nature among them, being wind and water-born accumulations. f55, characterized by the presence of bricks fragments as visible in v100, is a feature that belongs to the erosion of the tell surface; the bricks fragments that sporadicly have been found while removing this feature, and that are cleary visible in the E section of locus k73 (cfr. v100) are probably part of the 'dump^1', a brick-melt accumulation, that interested the south area of J04 in the Late Mittani Period. nl We are aware that a baulk, being part of the accumulations dug in a given square, should be dug stratigrafically in order to individuate also in this portion of the locus the features found while digging the square. However, when we removed the N baulk of k73 we decided not to excavated this portion of the locus stratigraphically; we thus assigned a feature number (f21, being aware that, as such, f21 is an an 'artificial' feature) to represent all the accumulations found within this portion of the locus and in order to keep track of the pottery and of possible items or q-items recovered while removing the baulk. ar Being f21 -stratigraphically- the sum of all the features dug in k73 (it consist of f3, f6, f9, f13 and f55), and, as such, an 'artificial' feature, we will not have a contact association between f21 and other features: we will take into consideration only the features dug within k73 and correlate them with features of neighbouring loci on the basis of the(ir) elevation and contact association. nr f21 was not excavated stratigraphically; all the q-items, pottery sherds and bone fragments have been collected in different q-lots. While studying this material must be kept in mind that it comes from different accomulations since f21 consists of f3, f6, f9, f13 and f55, the features dug within this locus previously. pr The N baulk of k73 has been partially excavated on Q816; on this day, we decided to 'cut' the baulk in half and use the other half as a ramp to remove the dirt from k72 and k73. We then finished to remove the portion of the baulk left as a ramp on Q823.
