The photo has been taken after the removal of the N-S baulk, with the purpose of showing the W section in J4 area with the approx. 200cm of natural deposition in J4 area. The view shows f10 and f50 k71, f63 in k72, f61 in k73, f58 in k74, f44 in k61, f35 in k62, f67 in k63 and f57 in k64. Looking S. ; now as 33 is taken again V19d3007 (v5a), in order to show k84 v 33 ; NOW THIS VIEW HAS BEEN CHANGED TO SHOW K84, SINCE THERE ARE NO VIEWS OF THIS LOCUS BEF WE START DIGGING ds General view of J04 area, in which k84 is shown, just behind k81 (the first square in the view). Since we did not took any photo of k84 before we start digging in this locus, this photo has been choose to show this locus before we start digging in the square. This photo shows the southern portion of k84. Looking S. This shows the topsoil of the southern portion of k84 (f87) and the E baulk of k84 (f53). Looking S. f 69 ds This is the top accumulation on top of k84. f69 is a wind-blown accumulation that build-up in the N portion of the locus in the last two years. The N portion of k84 was investigated in 2004 by mH as part of J02 Unit and was not covered after the excavations carried out in the 2004 excavation season. f69 is soft in consistence, crumbly when removed and fine texture. It is characterized by the presence of pottery sherds, pebbles and stones. It is light grayish in colour. nr What we have been investigated, in the beginning of the 2006 excavation in this locus, was a small area of k84, i.e., the N portion of k84 (1,80cm S and 400cm W to m4412): this was as well the portion of k84 investigated by mH in the 2004 excavation season. At the end of the 2006 season, this locus was not covered (cfr. J02t061), therefore, the top accumulation we met in k84 is the same of the last one excavated by mH in MZ17, with some cm of wind-blown soil fallen in the period between the two excavation seasons. XXX f69 it is thus a natural accumulation but the top-most of the feature is a recent accumulation, since this locus was previously dug by mH and aP in the 2004 excavation season, and on top of this some water-and wind born accumulations build-up in the last 2 years. f 71 ds f71 was assigned to the natural accumulation dug firstly in k83 in the 2006 season. This square, as visible in J02t61, was previously dug in the 2004 excavation season by mH as part of J02 Unit. Portion of the locus, as visible in J02v61, was interested by the cut of the German trench C10 dug in the 2001 excavation season; the bottom of the German trench C10 in this locus was found and reached by mH in the 2004 excavation season. For this reason, when we start digging in 2006 in this locus, k83 was cheracterized by a cut that was aprox. 100cm wide and 20-30cm high in the middle portion of the locus (relative to the bottom of the German trench C10). The features in k83, as those in k82, slope slightly toward south, following the slope of the tell mound. For this reason, the top elevation of f71 in the north portion of the locus differs from the top elevation in the south portion of he locus (there are approximately 20cm of difference in elevation). The elevation of f71 given in the 'Volumetric localization' has been taken in the middle portion of the locus. li Unlucky there are no J04 photos showing k83 and k84 before we start digging in these loci in the 2006 excavation season. However, J02t61 shows the mentioned loci at the end of the 2004 excavation season, showing the different elevations that characterize these loci.
