The section photographs were taken in pieces because they are too large for one photograph. These sections were not drawn but templates will be made from the photographs. Work continued in k5 to remove the North baulk and also the workmen began to remove the small east section bordering the cement staircase. In k3 the workmen began to remove the eastern baulk, f32, from the inside. This method is being used for safety reasons as there are workmen down in J6k200 and so the baulks can not be pushed over. ;.rd S730 ;.ri hQ ;v ;1a t S gk1 gf1, 4, 5, 6 This view shows the stones in k1 and the relation between them. ;2 S gk1, 2, 3 This view shows loci k1, k2, k3 as they are first excavated. ;3 S gk1 gf1, 4, 5, 6, 8 View showing three floating stones in place and their position relative to the German excavations in area C2 ;3a t N gk1 gf1, 4, 5, 6, 8, 21 View showing close-up with stone f4, f5, and f6 and their relationship to f21, the accumulation of small stones in the southeast corner. ;.rd S802 ;.ri cJC ;4 N gk1 gf8, 13, 4, 21 View showing the confinement of f13, the accumulation of pebbles and sherds, to the northern part of k1. ;4a t ov gk1 gf13, 8 Close-up of f13 showing the disorganization of sherds and pebbles in f13. ;5 N gk3 gf9, gf12, gq6.1 View showing placement of complete articulated bones (q6.1) in f9 ;5a t ov gk3 gf9, gq6.1 View showing close-up of long bone and small associated bones (q6.1) ;5b t ov gk3 gf9 gq6.1 View showing close-up of additional associated bones of q6.1 ;.rd S810 ;.ri cJC ;6 N gk1 gf1, 8, 13, 10 North section of k1 showing three volumetric features (f1, f8, f10) and the dump (f13). Appears to be related to stones f4, f5, and f6 in k1 and also to stones f37 and f29 in k2 and f3. Additionally across J6k200 in area C2 there are some stones in a line that may be related. See v22. f 37 ;df st ds Floating stone in east baulk of k2. Appears to be related to stones f25, f4, f5, f6 in k1 as well as f29 in k2 and f35 and f36 in k3. Addtionally it may be related to the stones across J6k200 in area C2, see v22. f 27 df vm ds East baulk in k3. This baulk does not have a regular shape as it borders the large trench J6k200. It is larger than a normal baulk and ranges in thickness from 150-200 cm at any given point. f 29 df st ds Stone in the east baulk of k2. Appears to be related to stones f25, f4, f5, f6 in k1 as well as f27 in k2 and f35 and f36 in k3. Addtionally it may be related to the stones across J6k200 in area C2, see v22. k 1 sm Markers, m4843, m4842, m4837, and m4838 define the complete square, however, a line from m4856 to m4874 in k4 defines the western edge of the excavated area. ds This locus is trapezoidal in shape. The eastern edge follows what would normally be the eastern edge of the square. The area that is excavated includes the eastern baulk. The eastern baulk was not left in place because the area to the east of the square, bordering J6k200, the deep trench, will essentially serve the purpose of a baulk and for section photography. This strategy was implemented to reduce the area of k1 that would need to be excavated in order to achieve the goals of J7. In the east the locus is defined by m4859 and m4843. The western edge is defined by a long line connecting m4839 in the southwest corner of k4 to m4856 which is in the southwest corner of k1. The locus is the normal 5 meters from north to south. A 1 meter baulk will be left in the north. A35 w2 k 2 sm Markers m4837, m4842, m4890, m4836 define the complete square, however, a line from m4856 in k1 to m4874 in k4 defines the western edge of the excavated area. ds This locus is trapezoidal in shape. The eastern edge follows what would normally be the eastern edge of an excavation square with m4890 in the northeast corner and m4842 in the southeast corner. The western edge is defined by a long line connecting m4839 in the southwest corner of k4 to m4856 which is in the southwest corner of k1. The eastern baulk of this locus was excavated and not left in place. This was done intentionally to reduce the area that needed to be excavated in order to achieve J07's goals. The area to the east of k2 will serve the same purpose as the east baulk as far as photographs and sections. This strategy was implemented to prevent the east baulk from becoming too large as it borders a large section of the J6k200 trench. A35 w3 k 3 sm Markers m4836, m4890, m4840 and m4874 define the outer limits of the complete square as it was possible to complete. ds This locus is trapezoidal in shape. Due to the cut of the previous excavations of the German team in area C2, now called J06k200 this square could not be completed as a normal 5m by 5m square. The eastern edge is cut by the eroding trench. Therefore, the square measures 3 meters east-west and retains the normal 5 meters north-south. The western edge of the complete square adheres to the normal site grid. The excavated area is defined to the north by m4839 and m4875. The southern extension is defined by markers m4836 and m4841. The western edge is defined by a long line connecting m4839 to m4856 which is in the southwest corner of k1. A35 w4 k 4 sm Markers m4845, m4833, m4840 and m4839 define the outer limits of the locus. ds This locus is rectangular. Due to the cut of the previous excavations of the German team in area C2, now called J6k200 this square could not be completed as a normal 5m by 5m square. The western edge adheres to the normal site grid and from that line the square extends 3 meters to the east and the eastern edge is defined by markers m4893 and m4840. A35 w5 k 5 sm This trapezoidal locus is defined by markers m4891, m4892, m4834, and m4845. ds This locus is extremely irregular. It is between the cement staircase and the trench that remains from the German excavation in area C2, now called J6k200. Because it has been cut both to the east and the west it is very narrow. In the north it is defined by markers m4834 and m4892 and is only about 50 cm wide. It retains the normal 5 meters north-south. At the southern edge it is 2 meters wide as defined by markers m4845 and m4891. A35 w6
