.bk J07 .fl S820cjc.j .fd feature description, daily journal .rd S820 .ri cJC -dy Today there were 17 workmen in J7. We continued removing the area south of k1, now called k100. Part of the dirt was used to backfill k100 and create a level platform surface. We also continued excavation in k3, k4 and k5. These three loci each had 1 pickman and 2 shovelmen. There was an additional wheelbarrowman in k5 to take the dirt to the shaffat chute. 2 workmen operated the shaffat in k2 removing the dirt from k3. There were an additonal 2 workmen from Anwar's team down in k200 to operate the shaffats. -eq Today we operated 3 shaffats in J7. A chute in k1 took the dirt down to the large shaffat. The small shaffat in k2 was operated normally and a tractor took away the dirt from the shaffat. Another chute between k4 and k5 took the dirt down to the third shaffat. mO tried to install another chute in k5 to a fourth shaffat but the angle was not sharp enough and it did not work. -sg gB suggested we step in the western sides of the squares by 1 meter to reduce the excavation area in order to reach to bottom of k200 this season. At the end of the day gB came to J7 and he thinks that even with the 1 meter step we will not reach the bottom of the trench and he proposed another change in the size of the squares to increase the possibility that we will reach our goal. Tomorrow we will put in a line parallel to the original oblique angle extending from m4839 to m4856 but we will extend this oblique angle through to k4. We plan to stop excavations in k1 and k2 for this season. We will finish removing k100 to the same level as k1 and k2 and then stop there as well. k 5 dy We changed the shape of k5 today to reduce its size. It is straight on the western side and will no longer have an eastern baulk. k 4 dy We changed the shape of k4 today to reduce its size. It will have a straight section in the west and will no longer have an eastern section. k 3 dy Today we changed the shape of k3 and moved the western section one meter inside the square to the east. There will no longer be an eastern section. f 42 ds Volumetric feature, 50 cm deep in all of k5. At an elevation of 9045 a hard compact surface was uncovered (v28). It was probably created due to the presence of water. f 43 ds Volumetric feature, 50 cm deep in all of k4. k 100 ds Area south of k1, including the large southern baulk of k1 and also the area of the German excavation, area C2 which was backfilled. The area of excavation (southern baulk of k1) extends about 1.5 meters south from m4856 and about 2 meters to the east of m4856
