-dy Muhammad Omo reported this morning sighting some pottery vessels in an area hwere a tractor was plowing. I wnt immediately with fAB, Ahmad Tarakji, Ismail and Muhammad Omo. It is immediately east of the summit of the city wall in the south.
-sy Since bWP is leaving tomorrow morning, we cannot survey the place. We will chisel points in some nearby stones, for her to survey next year.
-sg It is difficult for us to excavate this year, because of lack of time and personnel. fAB suggests we explore a bit further just with a shovel, but without exposing any underlying structure, to avoid eliciting interest in the area.
-lb I do not have here the data from the DOG surface survey, so I assign the number 50 to this unit

ds we collect two small complete metallic ware jars (one had been sighted by Muhammad), one seemingly whole but shatetred, and a few large sherds. The jars are about 10 m apart. I also take several photos (with the sun having set already).

-sg Muhammad Omo says that this field was plowed with the deep plow and will be left fallow this coming year. This is the custom every 10 years. Hence it will be easy to find the same spot next year after the surveyor puts in the points.

-sy I select two points on stones along the western border of the field: in the photos, the northern stone is marked by Ismail, the southern one by Muhammad Omo. DIstances from northern stone to q1.1: 33.70 ms; to q1.2: 27.40 ms. Distances from southern stone to q1.1: 41.80; to q1.2: 36.90 ms.
-dy I go back with MOmo and Isamil, mKB, lR and mCT.
-ds several ash patches are present in the area, which may argue for a use other than just graves. However, lR has identified a few human bones
-ns mKB says that the sherds are uniformly from EDII and EDIII
