At 8.00 two new teams of four people each joined us (the pick-men are Ibrahim and Faraj). Taha (pick-man) went home and he didn't come back after faidos. -sy bp put markers to open a new square (k15). -sg since the elevator does not work we employed all our teams in digging squares. We decided to open two new squares (k15 an k53). With the opening of k15 the goal is to reach the same level in the area south to the "apron" to show a kind of horizontal plan which had to be characteristic of area. This is suggested by the disposition of the collapsed stones in k3, k4, k5 and k13 and k14. On the other side opening k53 we hope to could reach, as soon as possible, the oval wall wich is visible in JO1. k 4 dy bM and eA, which joined us on the excavations yesterday, draw the long eastern section in k4 and k5. k 5 dy bM and eA, which joined us on the excavations yesterday, draw the long eastern section in k4 and k5. k 13 dy we removed the eastern baulk of k13 (f56, q119 and q122). k 14 dy we finished to remove the northern baulk of k14 (f52, q117) and we continued to remove the eastern baulk of k14 (f35, q126). k 15 dy we started to remove the topsoil in the new square (f58, q124) by a new team of which the pick-man is Faraj. The square does not measure 400X400 since the eastern part was cut by the German trench. k 33 dy Yesterday we removed f46 defined as a lb since it appeared as an accumulation clearly different from the rest of the soil. However scraping the surface we noticed that the stones are going down also in they are concentrated all in the middle on the southern baulk of the square. We supposed it could be a pit (f54) filled by f55. We interpreted it as a pit, choosing to change feature, since the matrix seems quite different (stones and not basalt) and the materials are more concentrated. On the other hand we went down with the excavation of the other part of the square (f49, q118 and q125). k 43 dy After going on removing top soil (f53, q115) we found a new feature which is characterized by a quite harder soil with ashy traces, concentrated above all in the centre of the square. For the moment we started to dig the northern half (f59, q127). k 53 dy We started to remove the top soil from all the surface (f57, q123). k 83 dy We are going on removing top soil (f50, q116 and q121). Tomorrow we are thinking to concentrate two pick-man to reach, as soon as possible, the steps of the monumental also in k83. k 93 dy we are going on with the excavation of the southern part of the square exposing the steps of stair (f51, q114 and q120).
