Evidence

The palace was not the first structure at the approximately same elevation inthis area. In units 15, A16, and A9 important features just below the palace floors have been excavated and assigned to Phase 4f. They consist of the remains of a floor of cut stones below the mudbrick floor in the palsce reception area in A15, a layer of baked bricks below the flagstone courtyard in A16 and a baked brick structure in A9.
