Description (summary) 2003-09-06 jw roughly rectangular stone block with hemispherical depression in the middle of the largest flat side. Surface of depression is worn smooth from an object turning within, suggesting use as a pivot. Doesn't look like a door socket because hemishere is inadequately deep to support a heavy vertical element. It may rather have been used as the base of a potter's wheel or other bearing surface for rotary motion device. [Input: NX16JW.j]
