Inspections checklist

Palace

Amer Ahmad – December 2025

Back to top: Palace

Introduction

The palace is considered one of the areas that require the most frequent inspections due to the presence of brick walls, some of which are very fragile and therefore need regular monitoring to assess their current condition and carry out the necessary interventions to protect them, as is the case with wall C2-3.

Details regarding the other walls are not included on this page, but in synopsis the process focuses on ensuring that no water leaks from the protective systems above down to the lower, which could cause damage.

The inspection also includes checking the condition of the burlap and whether the plastic sheeting (nylon) is placed properly. Despite the presence of a protection system, the walls are additionally covered with plastic to ensure protection in case rainwater infiltrates.

The monitoring work also includes:

  • Ensuring the cleanliness of the palace and the removal of dirt and weeds.
  • Checking the condition and cleanliness of the pathways to ensure safe access for visitors.
  • Inspecting the covers placed over the exposed archaeological installations, such as the tannur, the bath, and the remaining installations.

Additionally, the condition of the informational panels is inspected.
