1997-07-06 jw 40 x 40 cm pit lined with bricks to a depth of 22 cm. Bricks about 10cm thick. gb suggests that this is the form of a foundation box, resembling a modern cornerstone. There was no evidence of associated walls and there was nothing in the contents (bones, sherds, ashes) to indicate such a use, but it may have been disturbed in antquity. [Input: O119JW.j]
