Akmed Hassan, Kastro Isa and Kamal Omo added from A12. k 9 dy began to remove accumulation between stone wall, f155 and the east baulk. After several pick runs shifted to remove part of south baulk, which was beginning to get dangerous, since there was a two meter drop to the north and a four meter drop to the south. f 98 df ac ds ashy, hard gray layer appearing first in east section of k5, the deep probe from last year. Extends over much of k4 and exended into the east part of k6. Ranged in thickness from about 5 cm to nearly 15 cm in some places. c# 10YR7/2 co light gray v 30 ph the SE corner of k4 is interesting because it is the intersection of a large number of contrasting accumulations and layers. The contrast is both in color and in texture. Brickfall, f87, caps alternating layers of black, red and brown soil (f98,f99,f100). Below, lays a pebble floor, f80, which abuts a large stone wall, f155. A baked brick pavement, f84, now only partially excavated, lies below the pebble floor. View 30a is a tighter shot focusing on the area including and above the pebble floor. View 30b highlights the overlaying brickfall which seals all the layers underneath. View 30c highlights the brickfall and an underlying destruction layer, f154, in the far SE corner of the locus. View 30d highlights the intersection of the wall, floor and accumulations f98, f99, and f100. v 31 ph wall, f155, is a major discovery as it gives evidence of the monumental nature of the plaza in which it sits. This is a work in progress photo which details the wall, a pebble floor, f80, which abuts it and the accumulation, f158 which covers the wall. View 31a shows the north end of the wall, where there is a colorful set of accumulation layers and lenses abutting the wall. v 32 ph brickfall in k4, f87, and in k3, which overlay and seal a number of layers below are shown to be clearly linked horizontally in this photo.
