-wa Suliman and two in support began to clear the backdirt and plastic sheeting which covered the excavation over the winter.  The purpose was to prepare for aerial photography of the entire palace complex.

-wk 11 other workmen joined in the project after breakfast.

-dy dirt and plastic removed by breakfast.  Spent the balance of day cleaning.

-we The pebble floor and brick platform are in excellent condition as is the east doorway.  There were a few places in the vicinity of the walls where where the excavated surface was very wet, probably due to pooling of runoff from the new canvas wall covers.

dy removed a small, free-standing pillar of accumulation from the NW corner of the west face of E-W wall, f___.  It had probably been left standing to protect a brick corner which was no longer there.

nr due to the fragile nature of the pillar, it was not possible to take an elevation.  However, it was at the same approximate elevation as f110 and f116, which marked the transition to Phase 3 in the coourtyard.  Sherds were taken to the house for preliminary analysis, which confirmed the provenance.
dy removed a small, isolated, 1 cubic meter platform, 7m to the west of the west face of wall, f___.  Technically, it belongs to A7, but is isolated form other features, except the stone wall wbich it abuts.  See sketch _____.  Four bags of sherds and one of bone.  After a hiatus of several years, all context for the material has been lost, so it was discarded.
