All will be excavating in A9 today. k 22 dy continued digging to define the architecture. Further excavation of accumulation, f294, revealed that it covered a short, single N-S line of bricks, f298, in the NW quadrant that extended south out of the north baulk. Under f199, in the SW quadrant there was an accumulation, f299. f 199 tc co f299 f 294 tc co f298 k 24 dy continued excavating accumulation, f287. Uncovered large stones organized into an "L" shape, f297, along the north baulk, more or less in the center. f 287 tc co f297 k 15 dy dug topsoil, f292, in the entire locus. At the end of the day, began to encounter accumulation, f300, underneath. f 292 tc co f300 P2 L714 f 297 df pb ds a group of several large stones arranged in the shape of the letter "L" extending along and south of the middle of the north baulk of k24. vp believes that they may be part of an entrance to a structure just to the north in k34 since one of the stones is a door socket. f 298 df bkg ds a line of a single N-S course of bricks extending south out of the north baulk of k22 that seem to sit atop foundation f293. They may part of a scattered occupation phase that reused major components of earlier structural elements. f 299 df a ds accumulation in the SW quarter of k22, under accumulation, f199. f 300 df a ds accumulation in k15 under a thin layer of topsoil, f292. The locus slopes sharply upward from west to east and we are digging this accumlation in a wedge shape to level the square.
