;-sr Reference for these strata assignments is AAsC - A15 and A16:L917. Strata 7 split to reflect a possible Nuzi settlement. 7a is brick decomposition while 7b is scattered occupation. We assume throughout that there was terracing to accommodate the slope of the hill that rises from south to north. Evidence for this includes the steps up at the north limit of the A11 street and the stepped brickwork that can be seen in the section of the west baulk of k9. Also we are assuming that, just as in the other parts of the excavated tell, Phase 5 lasted much longer than Phase 4, and involved much building and rebuilding. This is only a preliminary and incomplete assignment reflecting this interpretation and does not include accumulations. Our reference point in MZ14 for Phase 4 and above is Stratum 16: Ak9 stone wall foundation enclosing tannurs.

ds line of bricks seen in section of the north baulk of k21. They are a part of a living surface, a42, that extends from k21 through k23. They probably represent a floor surface that leads out to a pebble street, represented by f278 in k23 and f196 in k22.
