In f2, the wall f31 (it seems in fact to be a wall) revealed a plaster face on the inside (the western face). Its purpose is still unclear. To the east, we found a small aggregate of broken pottery and shell material, a3, perhaps related to a2. Overall, we can see the clear downward slope of the grayish brown ^ad (f30, f33, etc.), since we are excavating it in all three loci. .rd L703 f 34 c# 10YR7/2 co ligth gray f 33 c# 10YR7/3 co very pale brown nt This color is for the western section of f33, next to f31. In the south-east corner, near a2 and a3, the color is 10YR7/2, light gray. In the north-west corner of the square, on the other side of f32, the color is 10YR7/3, very pale brown. f 30 c# 10YR7/2 co light gray f 20 c# 10YR7/2 co light gray f 17 c# 10YR6/3 co pale brown f 32 c# 7.5YR6/4 co light brown nt This color is in the more reddish parts of f32. This confirms our suspicions that the wall is contained inside the baulk. It does not, however, explain the lack of a western wall. Also, gb, ed, and I inspected the south baulk of area X and decided to photograph the pit and then begin removing it. We organized a bucket train and removed the fallen dirt from the trench. We will either begin digging today or first thing tomorrow morning. f 33 ds This ^ad, east of (outside of?) the wall f31, is grayish-brown, quite hard, and seems essentially the same as f30, including the red and black inclusions. However, in the south-east corner, around a3, there are also a series of sharply angled white patches, not continuous, like a floor would be, but scattered (see v7, v7a).
