The pit seems to be phase 4, and therefore the accumulation into which it is cut is phase 3. At the bottom, we discovered a number of large stones, probably pulled up from the platform below, a series of white floor layers, a sherd packing over large stones (much like the lower platform in A12k6), and finally, a beautiful stone drain extending to the west. This drain seems to have actually served the platform, but with the stones having been pulled up, it is difficult to say. The section of the pit shows the red, wall-like layer, f49, continuing to slope downwards. Except for the removal of the baulks, this is probably the last area of A14 that we will excavate this season. -sg We have decided to close A14 earlier than originally planned, in order to focus more on finishing A12 this season. rd and I will transfer to A12, and ed will go to A15 to help with their data processing and completing of the book. f 35 tc si f34 f 40 tc co f42 tc co f43 tc co f46 f 37 tc co f45 f 53 tc co f54 f 57 tc co f58 f 24 tc co f26 f 41 tc co f50 tc co f51 tc cu f44 tc cu f49 f 50 tc ov f51 f 55 tc si f52 f 37 tc ov f38 f 42 =l f46 tc ab f43 f 46 =l f42 f 51 tc co f52 f 56 tc in f52 f 39 tc co f44 f 43 tc ab f42 f 47 tc si f43 f 52 tc co f53 f 54 tc co f57
