-wk 28 reported for work.  Abd el Menham and Abd el Rahmah fought just after breakfast.  AeM went home for a time and we dispatched Adib and Muhammad Omo to resolve the conflict.  AeM returned about 1100 and both workmen promised to co-exist peacfully, although we changed their work groups to effect maximum separation.

-sf gm worked at home for the entire day processing objects and trying to get the "J" and "O" programs to process all of our files.  The "J" program does not process the file produced by the template program.  The "O" program does not process the files from the view logs.

dy Finished excavating in the locus.  Hussein pointed out that the last accumulation, now designated f275, had a greenish tint and resembled material found in the drains during last season's excavation in A10.  We did not find the stone and sherd pavement, f230, immediately adjacent to the south in k14.

dy Continued to excavate the accumulation above the level of the pise floor, f213, found in the north baulk two weeks ago, where a rich deposit of vessels and other objects were found resting upon it.

dy Continued to excavate below the level where the oblong clay objects were found, and anticipating encountering some of the pise floors found in k14 and k4, about 60 cm below the current elevation.  The fight occurred between two workmen from this square, so work slowed somewhat as a result.

ds Accumulation below accumulation, f267, in k13.  Occasioned by a change in color and texture.  There is a hint of gray, possibly pit fill in the SW corner.

ds Greenish-gray accumulation under accumulation, f..., in the entire locus, k5.  It was not noticed until much of it had been excavated.  Therefore, many of the q-lots were associated with f....  The pickman, Hussein, said that it reminded him of the material excavated from the palace drains last season in A10.
ns The discovery of this material raises the issue of Phasing.  If the palace drains were only active in Phase 2, then this material must have been deposited in Phase 2.  If the drains continued to be used in Phase 3, then the material may have been deposited in both Phase 2 and Phase 3.
