-sf dc departed for Italy.  jw now the sole person working on A14, but the last several days he has been working on the stratigraphic record for A09, located on the opposite side of the AK building and which is expected to provide clues for the analysis of both A14 and A09.

-dy Removed jar, i242, whole except for a partially broken rim, from the remnants of the E baulk of k4.  Workmen had sounded around it to see how large it was and enough was exposed so that it presented an opportunity for theft in situ.  Reviewed section drawings to record features seen in section and not seen while excavating.

dy Reviewed the section drawing of the N face of the N baulk of k2 (which was not excavated this season).
ns Review of the section drawing was particularly revealing in that it shows a number of layers generally sloping down from E to W, which may indicate that there were probably no major structures immediately to the sputh of the palace and west of the stone and brick platforms and that the platforms may have gone out of use during Phase 3, since it is likely that the accumulations rose against the southern walls of the AK building.
