It may be possible to reach a portion of the main entrance or south section wall to the palace, which some applications of symmetry already found to the west lead us to expect here. -wk 7 picks and 18 in support reported for work. Deployed the majority to preparing k15 for excavation. k 15 dy backfill cleared before breakfast. Afterward, began excavating topsoil, f306. f 304 df a ds accumulation under accumulations, f303 in the north half of k5. Contains chunks of brickish material of color 7.5YR7/8, reddish yellow. The color and the texture of that accumulation, granular, light gray, mixed with orange grits and with pieces of carbon, looked like a home space. tc co f326 tc co f329 f 305 df a ds accumulation under accumulation, f301, in the SW quadrant of k5. Contained a large quantity of large roots throughout. tc co f314 tc co f319 tc co f320 f 306 df ts ds topsoil throughout k15. Dense with matted, fine roots. tc co f307 k 15 nv this locus was on a steep slope. We measured the elevation at several points, but recorded the highest one for the record (9024) as the starting point for excavating the topsoil, f306, in order to keep the features underneath in a logical sequence of elevations. However, some features in the lower western portion were discovered, measured, and recorded before the east part of the topsoil, f306, was fully excavated. As a result there is a greater variation in elevations of early features than would otherwise be expected. After the locus was leveled, all elevations fit the order in which they were discovered.
