.bk A15 .fl L813jlw.j .fd daily journal for A9 assistance to A15 on L801 .ei jlw .ed L813 .rd L801 .ri jlw -wk 7 picks and 21 in support reported for work. -sg gb noted that there was no longer reason to believe that there were significant architectural elements in the portion of k13 that we were excavating. Therefore we will stop digging there, level the locus and shift those resources to other parts of A15 under the direction of okk. There is still a good chance of finding a southward extension of the palace in the portion of k5 we are digging, so we will put extra resources there to expedite removal of the north baulk and to take the north half of the locus the 75cm or so further down to match the palace floor level to the north. -wk took 6 workmen who were excavating in k15 and sent them to clean A9 in preparation for final photographs. After breakfast, assigned them to okk. k 13 dy leveled the locus. For record purposes, found evidence of a pit, f338, in the NW corner of the west baulk. k 5 dy removed about 60 cm of accumulation, f332, from the north half. After breakfast, began to remove the N baulk. We followed the stratigraphy already established for the locus to assign feature numbers to q-lots. In the afternoon excavations, found a cache of bones that turned out to be those of an animal. -wk 2 picks and 3 in support returned for afternoon work to continue baulk removal. From time to time Adnan and Hussein from A15 north provided extra pick support by working on the north side of the baulk. f 338 df fi ds fill in pit in NW corner of the west baulk of k13. Clearly appears in section now and is the north edge of a much larger pit that is in k3 and k4. It is unclear how much of it was excavated as part of f56 without realizing that it was a separate feature. The elevations are for the current top and bottom. P99 Noted for record purposes as it will not be excavated this season. tc si f331 f 339 df a-bone ds cache of animal bones that were originally thought to have been human remains. vp identified them as possibly human in the field and assigned i210 to the bones. It was not possible to take a relay, although an elevation was recorded. tc si f340 P99 removed to house storage on L801 for analysis by a physical anthropolgist next season.
