.bk A15 .fl L818okk.j .fd field journal sb, L713-L730 .ei okk .ed L818 .rd L713 .ri sb -dy Today we are putting relay tags on the ground to relay all structures. We already have the plot of the locus, although 3 baulk corners need to be retaken (the elevation of one of the markers was wrong). f 90 dy On the south of the wall, Hussein dug f44, also brickfall, and after a few cm he found a floor. The new floor is f90. It is very damaged, but interesting because underneath we see clearly the pebbles that form the subfloor. Same as we see in k13. f 92 dy Today we are digging in k12, where a doorway comes out on the wall f43. The doorway was filled with brickfall, therefore it was dug as f55. The doorway, towards the S, in wall f43, is lined with large stones. The new doorway is f92, the accumulation within it has been changed from f55 to f91. .rd L715 .ri sb k 11 dy in k11 and k12 we are finding everywhere the pebble and sherds floor f71 which continues in A16k8. .rd L718 .ri sb k 3 dy Dug in lower (w) part of k3/k4, onto the wadi bed. Made a new feature, f100, for ash accumulation on NW quad of k3. On the E part (higher) of k3 found a lot of slag, and burnt fragments of brick, greenish-pink. .rd L721 .ri sb f 103 dy this feature occupies almost all k3, except for a pocket of ashy soil in the NW quad, f100. It was recorded as "hard ac below f41" but 3 days later it looks very different from f41. It shows as large pockets of but there is a lot of red coming out of the middle of the S part of the locus. f 109 df w ds mud-brick wall running N-S in k2, looking west, parallel to the rocks, abuts w f31, leans against platform f12, bounds floor f32. This floor has been dug today, there is no more floor. It seems that the wall f31 and 109 are perfectly perpendicular, and that the bricks don't continue below the floor. f109 and f12 are not parallel, there is soft dirt between them and some large vertical sherds. dy The first layer of damaged bricks was removed, the second and last layer is lower than the surface of f31. f 107 df ac ds new feature, as accumulation below f26 (floor). k 92 sg open a new locus, small, down N of k94, a red bricky platform to the N of large stones of palace wall. .rd L729 .ri sb k 1 dy west half of k1 + 1m baulk from A13. Today we cleaned well for the photo the horizontal plan. f 162 dy There was a clear line between f159 to the west, and f162 to the E. f162 is soft, ashy, with lots of ceramics and bones. On the NE corner of the feature there is a square, almost rectangular, of pebble floor f175. GB said to leave it pedestalled, and to dig f159, a harder, reddish ac which is later than f162. There are some clear bricks belonging to f159 in the E section of A13 and also in the face of the pit f131. In the pit we found the bottom, just in a little, rounded part. This seems to have been 2-3 pits, one inside another. We removed the slice of baulk that was left, so now except for the pit which is very deep, the rest of the trench in k1 is almost levelled. f159, whatever it is, maybe a burial, has been cut by the pit since we see well the bricks in the cut. f139 floor-white, f147 ac, f159 red ac. f 139 tc co f147 f 147 tc ov f159 .rd L730 .ri sb k 1 dy Today we dug out the small piece of pebbled floor of 70x40, against the E section, f175, after taking a photo. We took a photo at 5:30 of the floor found yesterday under f147, new f147. This is a beaten earth floor with scattered, small pieces of stones and sherds. In A15v_ we see that and the floor next to it, f162, that has provided lots of pottery. This f162 was 15cm higher than f174, so after the photo it was dug out to see if the floor continues under it. While digging out f162 we found another level, just beaten earth, a well defined layer. We dug this out, just 10 cm (so f177 is P1) and found a large stone floor, seems same level as f174. There is a large decorated jar, with a small pot inside, its hollow with a break. It is sitting on a possible floor that is approximately 20 cm below the pebble floor, now all of f174. New feature lower floor, with this feature, f181. New floor for accumulation above that floor, and below the level of large pebble floor f180. This accumulation turned out to be accumulation within a burial, because the large jar is burial _. The cut of the burial is quite visible to the E of large jar.
