Inspected with gb, fab, and the Syrian representative, with particular emphasis on the material between the stones and the baked bricks that are just beginning to appear. It seems that they stopped digging the pit just after the stones were reached. The stones themselves were apparently removed at the time the pit was dug. a 11 df pt-a ds a large pit with cut, f310, and ashy fill, f131, that was dug into the accumulation that overlies the large stone plaza found in A13, A15, and A16, and whose higher portions were expanded horizontally to provide building materials for later houses. It appears that the pit was dug to the level of the top of palace wall f228 collapse. f 364 df ta ds a double chambered tannur that was found on the second day of excavation of k5. It was photographed before removal, v150. tc si f304 f 365 df fi ds fill in pit, a55, dug through third millinium accumulations in the far NE corner of k1 to just below the level of the flagstone plaza, f216. There was a relatively large amount of pottery for the small volume of fill. There was at least one Khabur sherd and others that could have been from the Ur-3 period. tc co f366 f 366 df pk ds red, granular material, that along with small stones, formed the bed upon which the very large stones that comprise the plaza floor were placed. It is similar to the material that is found in lower levels of deep wells in the area. it appears that a large stone would have its top side flattened, then the packing would be molded in the negative of the bottom side so that the top of each large stone would sit level with the tops of the others. P99 this feature was not excavated during MZ14. It was described and will be covered for excavation in a subsequent season.
