.bk A15 .fl N722ms.j .fd daily journal N722 .ed N722 .ei ms .rd N722 .ri ms -wk three workmen were taken to work in J1, Ahmad, Jawan and Lorenz. Ibrahim Ismail is now full time administrator. We will work closely with him while he is getting used to the job. He seems to be doing very well. This is also the last day for gh as she is going to work in Damascus tomorrow. -sg we will consult with gb regarding k5. Will continue going down as usual in otehr areas. There was no time for gh to draw the n section of k3 k13 before she left. k 5 dy continued removing accumulation f411 around i237, large ja and two more jars on their sides have been uncovered. Rasheed is excavating slowly. At first we thought this might be a burial, but these may just be an installation of large vessels on a floor. Will continue to examine. Started removing accumulation, f418 w of wall f413. This wall may be the w border of the huge gray accumulation because layers are seen in the w baulk w of the wall, but nothing is seen in the e baulk. Took photos of pit f394 and possible threshhold. k 15 dy continued cleaning gray area f412. Took photos of pebble lens f409. This can be removed. Took down f386, gully wash portion of baulk with k5. Possible continuation of wall f405. Will need to examine further. k 14 dy started going down again in f372 towards east baulk. Fill remains consistant. Also removing f399 accumulation. Sherds have been removed. Will examine tomorrow to se if the accumulation is similar to f372 or is this still aprt of the clay bin, f155. flp drew skeleton and it was removed. Khabur sherd was lodged next to one of the bones. k 13 dy removed level in f416 but no real differentiation seen. Key find today was major red layer around one of the kilns. The red accumulation is f417. At first we thought this was part of kiln waste but after further examination we believe it may be melted brick. We removed the inside of half the kiln and we can see red bricks in section. These types of bricks are an indicator of phase 2 and may mean ph2 structures here. However, ph5 is very, very low because of the kiln waste and it does not seem to make much sense to have ph5 cut ph2. It is too soon to tell and we will know more as we continue removing the kiln and surrounding material.
