.bk A15 .fl N804ms.j .fd daily journal N804 .ed N804 .ei ms .rd N804 .ri ms -dy keep going down in all areas including new excavations in k2. k 2 dy continued removing accumulation in baulk f479. This is a continuation of the kiln waste, f373 of k13. This kiln waste must have been in k3 in MZ14 since it has continued so far over in the baulk. Also continued removing f476 brown accumulation above the crumbly bricky material, f474. No new features or ideas from the locus. k 5 dy some of the features we are excavating in this locus are partially in k15 or related to features in k15. We will describe them under k15 since the majority of the activity here is currently originating in k15. These features include f460, f478, f479 and f480. k 15 dy declared f381 which appeared first as a dip in the middle of the locus after following f451 and removing f450. It now seems to be a pit instead. Removing fill, f381, but have not reached the end yet. Also declared f478 which is red bricky material in an L-shape in the w section of locus, into k5. This almost looks to be part of an andiron. To the west and contained by f478 is ashy fill, f479 contained by pit f480. We removed the fill and have reach a red bricky bottom. This may extend further east into the locus rather than be totally contained by f478. We will examine this further tomorrow. This feature was cut by the larger and later pit, f460. Also began removing the sherd layer, f454. This will be totally removed tomorrow. Also declared f482 which is a bricky mass in f426, the trench. jw thinks it may be part of an ew wall. There are stones associated with this so it may be the remains of a wall, or just brickfall. We will examine further tomorrow. k 13 dy removed f477 which was the small area of what looked like reed matting remains. This was taken as a sample, i264. We also removed f462 which was the single course of bricks that seemed to look like a wall. In addition we removed the last remnants of f442 the accumulation directly below the kiln waste, f420. We scraped the entire area and have defined the outlines of f483 which is a dark brown area that seems to have a lighter outline of what fab says may be a type of non-porous clay. We will scrape the entire area tomorrow and define any new features and see what we have left of the kiln waste residue. The kiln waste intrusion was so deep that it does seem to cut into ph3 at a deep level. .rd N802 .ri jw f 463 df pb ds bricks in lining of kiln, a31. These bricks may have been part of the initial construction of the kiln. They are crumbly and hard. f 464 df a ds brown accumulation over f450 in k15. This accumulation covers only about half of the locus and may be a thicker part of f444 which also overlaid f450. f464 seemed to be about 10cm thicker towards the west, but when removed, f450 was uniform underneath. f 465 df f ds very limited floor area in k5 directly under f443. Did not seem to extend into the baulk or any other direction. Eastern portion may have been cut by pit f394. Also runs up to large stone, f410 but not to the n side. f 466 df a ds brown accumulation under f465 in k5. Again, this is visible in only a limited area and there is not connection with any other features on the same plane. f 467 df pb ds stone and sherd pavement visible after removal of the bottom of the kiln, a31 in k13. This pavement is most like related to the street, and the stone/sherd pavement, f208. Most likely dated to ph3. Full extent of pavement not certain at this time.
