-wk Ju'an Ismail excused by gb and departed for home at breakfast due to illness.  Safwan Hussein's absence continued and was excused by gb on N808.  ms spent most of the day working at home on computer data entry and processing.  bm continued to spend the first half of the morning assisting jw and ms.

-dy work in k15, k14, k13 and k3 continued from the previous day.  The baulk between A15k12 and A17k2 needs to be removed to test the hypothesis that there is evidence for a Phase 5d Khabur settlement in A17.

dy the section for the north baulk of k12 was drawn by bm as it had not been drawn during MZ14.  Afterwards removal began by the team working in A17k2.

dy Mizar continued to remove the accumulation f491 west of the expected west face of wall f433.  More of the pebble and sherd floor f208 was exposed, as was a new pot-smash f504.  Tomorrow we expect that he will have excavated far enough east to reach the bricks of f433.  Ramadan finished removing the small platform of accumulation f372 and began excavating north from the south edge of f491.

dy Yestafad continued to excavate a block of ashy accumulation f501 in the SW corner of the locus.  At the end of the day he had exposed a hard, undulating floor surface f505 (elevation 8689)  and, in the SW corner, what may be a remnant of the palace floor f506 (elevation 8716) and the underlying packing f507 (elevation 8704).

dy Stef continued to excavate a block of accumulation f486, possibly the contents of a room contained by wall f485 to the north and west and wall f457 to the south.  Pottery is being analyzed to determine the phase.  A thin red coating on the south face of brick wall f485 is well preserved and can clearly be seen from wall top to the depth of excavation of f486.  Two conical cups, i267 and i268 as well as a complete grindstone i269, were found in this accumulation today.

ds a 4 square meter area of accumulation in the SW corner of k3.  It contained a large number of sherds and was up to 20 cm thick in some places.  It probably was a mix of fill from a large pit, floor accumulation and wind blown soil from nearby loci being excavated.
