.bk J02 .fl T920mKB2.j .fd k100 description and date of sherds in features .ei mKB .ed T920 .rd T918 .ri mKB k 100 K99 features are all Phase 3s (early ED III). There are very few Late Chalcolithic sherds in this locus and therefore a different depositional history than in J1. Most of the body and shape sherds from this locus are tiny, especially in f386 and f389; this pattern would be consonant with a functional deposition resulting from a high foot traffic area. The fact that k100 is located in the primary third millennium access to the temple terrace and temple above appears to indicate a pattern of repeated use by a large number of individuals giving us a glimpse into the nature of the ritual and social activities connected with the temple. f 209 I99 Phase 3s I11 q560-p1 flaring rim jar with division on exterior of the rim (straight rims with a division in the center are characteristic of short neck jars dating the Phase 3s); q587-p2 flaring rim jar with squared rim; q587-p4 deep bowl with square rim; q592-p1 wide flaring rim bowl with thick carbon core much chaff and light brown surface (the usual wide flaring rim bowls are of a very smooth yellow-buff surface); q549-p70 thick Metallic ware body sherd; q549-p1 pointed rim conical cup dark orange-red on the lower portion of the body and red-buff near the rim; q592-p2 flat base of a cup or bowl with rounded lower body, some wheel marks; q554-p5 small cup with beaded rim f 213 I99 unclear I11 3 shape sherds; 2 small flat bases, 1 small jar I12 date unclear from these three shape sherds but probably phase 3s f 214 I99 Phase 3s I11 3 shape sherds; small coarse jar, small flaring rim jar, conical cup I12 date unclear from these three shape sherds but probably phase 3s f 215 A99 215 Pebble Floor number 6, second highest of the k100 "Pebble Floors" I99 phase 3s I11 q648-p4 small bowl with flat base that has a slight swelling on the body wall near the base; this same base type is found in early third millennium contexts in J1 (J1 f327 q1257-p13, f347 q1293-p3, f317 q1263-p7); q648-p3 short necked globular bowl; q648-p2 flaring necked jar with squared rim; q648-p1 flating necked jar with simple rim; p1-3 all date to Phase 3s f 256 A99 previously designated as accumulation above Pebble Floor number 5 I99 phase 3s I12 mixed with some earlier sherds I11 q650-p4 a Late Chalcolithic 3 bowl sherd; -p7 jar with folded rim with interior groove; -p5 jar with slight folded rim; -p6 bowl with square rim; -p3 small coarse bowl (Late Chalcolithic 3?); -p1 small jar with flat rim; -p9 coarse flat base; -p10 bright orange string cut footed base; -p2 dark gray coarse flaring rim jar f 258 A99 previously designated as Pebble Floor number 5 I99 phase 3s I11 q q258-p1 square rim bowl red-brown coarse ware with sand, chaff and small and medium calcite, plus a medium gray lithic temper, while this example is coarser and thicker it is somewhat similar to J1 f327 q1260-p8 and J1 f341 1289-p2, both of which are dated to ED III; q682-p5 jar with interior groove; q682-p4 flaring rim jar f 276 A99 previously designated as Pebble Floor number 3 K99 only 4 shape sherds I99 Phase 3s I11 in q715-p1 and -p2 conical cups, -p3 jar with square rim,-p4 overfired flaring rim short necked jar, all early ED III types f 287 A99 previously designated as Pebble Floor number 2 K99 only 2 shape sherds I99 probably Phase 3s I11 q733-p1 conical cup; -p2 coarse globular jar f 291 A99 previously designated as accumulation over Pebble Floor number 1 I99 probably Phase 3s K99 only 1 shape sherd I11 q741-p1 jar with pointed rim coarse gray-brown ware; these pointed rim jars with a slanted exterior portion of the rim are typical for Phase m but usually they are buff and not as coarse f 292 A99 previously designated as Pebble Floor number 1, the lowest Pebble Floor I99 Phase 3s I11 q894-p6 and q897-p13 globular rim jar with pointed rim, typical for Phase 3s; q894-p5, -p7, q746-p4, -p5, -p2, q897-p14 flaring rim jar with square rim, typical for Phase 3s; q897-p10 cup or bowl with flat base with swelling of lower body wall just above the base and very dark green in color, typical base for Phase 3s; q894-p6 thick coarse jar with water drip marks on exterior f 294 I99 Phase 3s I11 q744-p6 and -p13 coarse cooking vessel; q746-p4 globular jar with square rim; q746-p5 flaring rim jar; both shapes are typical for Phase 3s; q746-p1 small conical cup f 386 K99 many tiny body sherds, some are early Ninevite V f 387 K99 all small body sherds I99 unclear f 388 I99 probably Phase 3s I11 q899-p1, -p2, -p3, -p7 globular jars with square rim; -p8 and -p9 part of the same bottle neck; -p11 Ninevite V incised and grooved body sherd I12 if the globular jar with square rim began to be made in Phase 3h (at this point we have no evidence for this)then this feature and feature 389 could be dated to Phase 3h f 389 I99 probably Phase 3s K99 only 2 shape sherds I11 q900-p1 late Ninevite V decorated with incised and grooved decoration; -p2 globular jar with square rim I12 if the globular jar with square rim began to be made in Phase 3h (at this point we have no evidence for this)then this feature and feature 388 could be dated to Phase 3h
