| Description (summary) | 2025-12-04 | pC | A compact grey layer was identified overlying the lowest courses of the revetment wall (F128). Its surface exhibits a southward slope, likely intended to channel water away from the wall’s base. The deposits sealing this layer date to the Early Dynastic III period. Although this feature was not excavated, its characteristics closely parallel those of the escarpment exposed in Unit J1, which was excavated; thus, it can reasonably be interpreted as representing the same architectural element. It remains uncertain, however, whether this corresponds to the first or the second escarpment. [Input: ZJz04pC.j] |
