.bk J05 .fl S720lH.j .fd daily journal for S720 .ei lH .ed S720 .rd S720 .ri lH -wk Fourteen assigned workmen reported. k 54 dy We opened a new locus, k54, to the west of k44; then we started to remove the topsoil, f32, after we took a photo for it, v19. Under the topsoil we noticed a new natural accumulation, f35, and under this accumulation was a hard crust of melted brick, f36. k 44 dy For the stone floor that we discovered in k44, we took a photo, v20, but we didn`t excavate this locus today. k 34 dy We planed to stop excavating the whole locus after we reach the depth of 9200, but when we measured the depth, it was already 9190. Then we began to excavate only the north half using the big pick. k 23 dy We started to remove the natural accumulation, f23, in the southern part of k23, using the big pick, and we found one mudbrick and many basalt grinding stones in it. Under f23, we found a new natural accumulation, f33, that looks softer than the previous feature. After removing f33, we found a new kind of accumulation that usually deposite above a floor, f34. We sent the pottery, q44, directly to mKB so that we could learn the phase. This accumulation covered a group of large stones, f37, which may be a part of the revetment wall of the temple complex. Then we started to remove it after photographing, v21. f 34 ds Compact feature, accumulated above a floor, with yellowish brown color. It`s deposited in the southwestern part of k23. It was covered by f33, and we started to remove it with the small pick. f 32 ds The top soil of k54. It`s chunky and compact because it was a road for people and trucks. We used the big pick to remove it. f 35 ds Natural accumulation that was under the topsoil, f32, in k54. It was softer than the topsoil and more brown. Since we didn`t expect any architecture, we used the big pick to remove it. f 36 ds Under the natural accumulation, f35, of k54, was a hard crust of melted brick, with gray color. It`s simmlar to layers that have been found in A20, and in other loci in this unit. -sg We need to remove the rest of f35 in the northern third of k54, then we will photographed the crust, f36, before we remove it. We will look for a continuation of the stone pavement, f28, in k44, into the east half of k54. In k34 we will continue to excavate the northern half. In k23 we will photograph the stones in the southwest quadrant, then we will continue to dig down along the southern baulk to find the revetment wall, f3.
