.bk J02 .fl O730ap.j .fd daily journal .rd O727 .ri aP .ed O730 .ei aP -sg since in the first part of the morning we worked in k3, k4, k13, k14, in the western side of the German trench (which is for us the eastern baulk of k4 and k5) and levelling k83, where yesterday we removed the eroded stones, the goal of the day is going down in k3, k13 and k14 and continuing in k84 and k 85. By this way we hope to have a nice view of the wall and, in the meantime, we think that if we reach the wall in the eastern side of the staircase it could be easy to dig and understand the western wing which at the moment is not very clear. About k84 and k85 in a first time we thought to dig them as just one locus (k101) but after we going down in two different squares (k84 and k85) to preserve the section. Nadia and Hassan from A18 came to draw our sections in k13 (eastern section), k14 (northern section), k4 (northern section). -sy during the digging of the sections we removed the following markers: m3862, m3699, m3879 and m3882. k 3 dy we started going down with the excavation of the layer with melted bricks (f106, q289 and q298), cleaning some other stones which became visible. Below this layer we reached the brickfall, already recognized in section. f112 is composed by bricks (some complete and some broken) which are gray on the external surface and have a red core (f112, q279 and q304). k 13 dy we continued going down in the southern part of the square, cleaning the wall which is starting to be visible. The feature is always the same (f103), with a soil very hard and compact. We removed q288 and q305. In the same unit we started to remove the eastern baulk (f116, q310). k 14 dy after removing the German trench and the mixed soil in the eastern part of the unit we reached a new layer, harder and softer according to different lenses, in all the surface of the unit with few pottery. It's f111: we dug q291 and q301. We also removed the north baulk of the square (f115, q309). k 4 dy we are going down with the hard and compact layer (f105: q292 and q302) in all the unit. We also going on with the eastern baulk of k4 and k5 (properly the western side of the German trench) in f110 removing q293, q303, q311 and q313. After the drawing we also removed the northern baulk of the unit(f114, q308). k 83 dy we continued to remove the columns of soil under the collapsed stones, levelling at the same time all the surface of the unit (f107, q294 and q307). k 84 dy before going down in the square we took a picture of the tannur near the eastern section (f72) and we dug the filling of it (f73, q306). We started to excavate this unit as the northern part of k101 considering k84 and k85 as parts of just one locus (k101, f113, q300) but after we changed idea to preserve the section between k 84 and k85 and so we went down with f113, q312 in k84. k 5 dy we are not digging in this unit (as well as in k15) but since we use the square as passage for the wheelbarrows we missed the top of the northern section in the central part of the baulk. k 100 dy we removed two eroded stones which were collapsed on the steps of the staircase. These two stones were not numbered.
