As cleary visinle, k71 is partially already exacavated since it was investigated in the 2001 excavation season by a team of the university of Tubingen, directed by Prof. Peter Pfalzner (the missing portion of the square falled within the German trench T14). The photo shows the small portion of k71 left to our investigation, in the SE corner of the square; the extension of the unexcavated area to the W is given by r1. The photo has been taken after a general cleaning of these loci. The purpose of the view is to show these loci before we start digging in these loci. k92,k82 and k83 have been already investigated by mH in the 2004 excavation season as J02 loci, and k83 is partially interested by a W-E running trench, which was dug by a German team of the university of Tubingen, directed by Prof. Peter Pfalzner, during the investigations of the tell mound (T10 is partially visible in the lower portion of the photo, where k83 is visible a small portion of the German trench, T10). It is visible as well T15, the trench dug within k81, N to k82. The photo shows as well various floating limestones in k82 and the surface where they sit (f51). Among these, there is f73 (a floating stone) and f74 (the pedestal of f73); this stone, as showed by J02v61 taken by mH in 2004, was still on top of its pedestal. v13 shows as well the N section of k82 and the small preserved portion of the N section of k92 (which was cut by a N-S German trench dug in 2001). Tide photos of the N section of k82 is given by v19 and related subviews. This stone was originally located on top of f74, as cleary visible in a view tooked by mH during the 2005 excavation season (cfr. J2v62, V17do214 taken the O803). The stone. therefore, collapsed from its pedestal in the previous two years (the stone is located aprox. 100cm est from its pedestal). f73 as well as f74 rest on f52, a natural accumulation over uncovered excavation from MZ17 in k82. This floating stone, as well as other in k82, was left in place in the previous excavation season in order to look for any direct link among these limestones and the Apron or the monumental staircase J02f130 exposed in J02 area. The sounding consisted in inserting a long metal stick (aprox. 50cm in depth) into f160 in order to chech whether there was a stone below (we checked every 10cm for the whole lenght of f160), but no stones have been intercepted therefore, it was clear that the Apron does not continue in J04 area, and that wall f128 and f129 can ben considered to be 'the boudary' to the est of the Apron. This view shows f10, f50 in k71 and the difference in elevation between this locus and k72, where, besides different floating limestones, a galcis layer was exposed (f127). The section visible in the view (which is the N section of k72) does suggest that f50 is part of the build-up of the tell mound, since it is mainly made of a series of different layering of fine and less fine soil, which seems to be water and wind-blown deposits. The view shows also f106 and its pedestal; f106 was found while removing another floating stone, f20, hidden whithin its accumulation (f98). Looking N. This view shows well all the features within k72 and k62 and the accumulations found in these loci, which are mainly brick-melt accumulation. While scraping the E section of the baulk within k73, where the sherd floor f154 has been exposed, several brick fragments, in a random position, were noticed. In a first moment we think that the bricks here found, could be part of a possible mud-brick wall running N-S just below the baulk. However, in the light of the excavations carried out in the 2008-9 excavation season in J06 unit we now interpreted these bricks to represent the collapse of structures located in the S portion of the J04 unit or, more probably, in the north portion of J06 area; these bricks are part of what -in J06 unit- has been defined as bf^1, the brick-melt accumulation which is the top-most part of the brickfall bf^2.
